Thanks, but I tried the arrow keys and had no luck as they didn't do anything at all. Still curious as to why the "chapter" button is whited out though?

Nope it's not there. As I said above, I don't have the last two menu buttons that are shown in the manual. Equaliser and something else (I can't remember the last button shown in the manual).

Question I now have is, is my Columbus faulty?

Chapter buttons have no effect on the main title screen of a DVD on any DVD player, which is why they're whited out. I'm not near my car and it's been a while hence the vague suggestions.

Ok, thanks Ryan. So just to be clear on your previous suggestion. When the menu screen of the DVD comes up, I should be able to then bring up the arrow keys and use these to move the cursor over the different menu's on the DVD's menu screen and then select enter on the arrow keys screen and away we go?

Not all discs are created equal, but yes that's generally it. Chuck the DVD in your home setup and it should be the same as what you do there.

I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but are you using original 'store bought' DVD's or are you using home burnt or maybe something imported from Bali or Thailand?

I generally burn my own dvd's and hence I choose not to have chapters in them. Therefore, my chapter prompts don't show up either. I have also noticed the same with a couple of imports I have.

The DVD's that I have tried are all bought DVDs (from reputable Aussie shops) and they work fine both in my DVD player and on my computer.....just not in my Columbus!!!

Is the unit coded (via VCDS) to Region 4?

i had a further look into this, and i've found this out.
    1. wat ur seeing, donweather, is correct. u will not see the bottom two options ("EQ Settings" & "Surround"), as shown in the user manual, because we don't get the premium speaker/sound package here in oz. the "sound system" premium audio package comes with 12-speakers and an amp. its not an option for oz spec'ed vehicles. the folks over at nz get it as standard, amongst other things.
8-speakers and no amp is standard for us.

u'll notice an extra speaker on the doors in these pics......

    2. we can only adjust the "bass-mid-treble" and "balance-fader".
