I agree the forum is a good place to search for data but answers can take ages and the message feature keeps failing with the small data storage lol
The group is more just a chat room for the Skoda nuts

Hey all, new guy from the Gold Coast here. Looking at buying an Octavia (MY18 base model wagon) over the next couple of days but yet to decide on a colour... Not sure if we want the basic Candy White or if we should go the Race Blue.
Anyone have any thoughts/recommendations? Are the metallic paints that much harder to maintain etc?

I have a Candy White RS wagon with black pack and white really suits the RS fantastically well. On the down side, white is a pain to keep clean and you don't get quite the same reward after a wax and polish as you do with a darker colour.
Race Blue also looks great and would be my choice for a basic spec wagon - I think white would make it look a bit 'plain'. The black pack, lower ride and bigger wheels help to 'lift' the white on the RS.
My previous (MY11) Octy RS wagon was Anthracite Grey, which is a metallic finish and I had absolutely no issues with it. I wasn't overly anal about keeping it clean and waxed, cleaning it on average once every three to four weeks, with a clay and wax once or twice a year. It was mostly parked under cover (garage at home and basement parking at work). When I traded it in 5 years later, it looked as good as the day I bought it!
MY 22 Superb Sportline Wagon. Moon White.
