The boot space in Octavia, how big is it?

We all know that Octavia's boot is big; but I didn't know that it has larger floor area than our Touareg.
Here is the boot floor rubber mat from Octavia that we used in the Touareg, when we needed to transport the lawn mower and didn't want to get the grass clippings in the Touareg's carpet.

Yep, its pretty big alright - big enough for my model aeroplane to fit without hassles (winspan is 1145mm, length is 1120mm) and big enough for us to fold the seats down flat and sleep in the back on occasion

That's one of the things I really love about my Octavia - the tardis like boot (580L I think....). There always seems to be a little bit more space to squeeze something in....which is invaluable when you're a drummer! It's amazing what will fit without putting the seats down, the boot goes back a long way. It's a contrast from my Mazda 3, which seemed to be mostly bonnet...

    +1
the liftback has 560L and the wagon with 580L.

the octavia's bootspace belongs in the large car segment.
it puts to shame a lot of bigger cars, including suvs & 4wds.

Yes I'll second that! I was using a Pearl Export 7 piece kit which fit with space to spare. I now have a 6 piece Gretch and I do not even put the seats down, plus I can still use the privacy cover in the back of the wagon! OK, the 22" kick sits in the back seat still but it goes in and out without a problem , even with it being in the drum case!
Drummers might be a niche market that Octavia's can claim their own!

just curious, did the extra weight in the back improve front-wheel traction?? .. with gear like that in the back I'd be a little afraid of highway driving - in the event of serious accident if the frontal impact didn't get you the UPS probably would ; )

    Please, can I claim WIN?

Yes, thats a full size fridge

    If anyones interested, thats 1640mm H x 715mm W x 730mm D

I have the seat pretty far back usually, I had to move it forward 1 click

The biggest difficulty was I couldnt use the rear view mirror to keep an eye on the car trailer

I dropped a 6' x 3' dining table and six chairs to the Salvos in my Scout a few months back. I also helped a mate who was buying a HUGE fridge, it ended poking put the back because it was too fat to get over the lip where the seats fold not quite flat, so maybe you win.

Yeh mate, as long as you don't stop in harry with that fridge, you're still the winner.
