    Smile Bluefin has arrived

Bluefin hand controller Monday after placing the order last Thursday, JKM were very pleasant to deal with. Paid via Paypal they provided DHL tracking number.

If the unit itself is a nice piece of very well made kit, nice soft touch buttons, rubber surround and generally nice to look at. Shame it gets used then stored away till next time out of sight. Will report back when I get the car and install it.
A couple of questions that someone might be able to help with
1- My wrx was dynoed 164kw at the wheels (4). The 2.0 fsi is quoted 147kw. Is that at the flywheel?
Bluefin remap adds approx 30kw. Is that at the engine?
I am just trying to compare cars.

2-If the dealer fills up the petrol tank with 95ron, I drive the car home, download the stock map, send it off to the Superchips, will it change the program they write for the engine to suit the lower 95 ron fuel?
I will email Superchips to find out.

They would be interested in what fuel you intend to use on a regular basis for sure. What they send you back though, would cope with 95 if you couldn't find 98.

If you thought you were going to be without 98 for any length of time, it's probably sensible flashing it back to std.

Just to clarify, is it the facelift RS saying it needs 95, I thought I was going mental and checked inside the fuel door, and it clearly says 98 (with 95 in brackets if you have to). Not sure where the 95 min keeps springing from.

Thanks for the help, is the ecu what you might call the "learning" type as in it will make adjustments to suit fuel and not just pull back timing when it knocks?
I think I will ask the dealer to fill with Ultimate 98 and stick to that. Can anyone see reason why ecu can't be reflashed straight away? ie without running in?
    thanks Gt

Flash away, just give it chance to warm up first and drive it normally. No dribbling up the highway for 500ks with the cruise set.

Hills would be good for it, with a bit of load on.

In my experience with the Bluefin, Superchips seems to want to know what fuel you'll be using...and 98 is probably the recommended way to go.

Having said that, my experience wasn't good; I never seemed to get "the right map" for the S3 2TFSI downloaded from them despite going to and fro several times, and so I ended up sending the Bluefin back and getting a refund. They had no problem with that, but it took a while.

Personally, I'd wait. How will you enjoy what you get if you never know what you had?

Got a reply back from Superchips-
"Yes this is the engine. Yes around 30kw. The ECU will adjust for the grade of fuel you use whether original or with superchip."
