Pay $1,600 for the down pipe and the stage 2 tune comes with it
Hey, this is where I am confused .. if you don't mind me asking, did you have to get/pay for Stage 1 tune before hand or did you just go straight to the $1,600 package ? (I am assuming in your sig you have a Stg 2)

Ring APR - they will tell you. Don't be afraid to ask for a deal.

You won't go from untuned to a DP with stage2 software for $1600

    I have emailed, awaiting confirmation.

Easier to ask Martin who looks like he has the APR stg 2 as to what was required ..

Yep - I'm running stage two - it does make more noise when on the throttle - normal usage is fine
(The CAI stuff is a complete waste of money in my view)

The dump pipe is not worth $1,600 - that would be a complete rip off
You can't use the dump pipe without updating the ECU (you're get CEL)
They are packging the two (dump+ECU) together

Unfortunately I got stage 1 first and was less than impressed
-only a mild boost in performance
-top end over 5000 rpm was worse than stock
APR looked after me upgrading to stage II + dump - then I was both impressed and happy

Messing with the dog bone can be very frustrating
Cabin reverberations in stop start traffic and especially when reversing can be shocking
I got the softest HPA dogbone and butchered it (see below) - almost perfect now
But it's the SuperLoy control arms that made the best improvement - if I launch too hard the wheel(s) just spin

2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels

So you did end up paying for Stage 1 and Stage 2. Or by saying APR 'looked after you' does that mean something else

I can PM you if you prefer.

Why are you too scared to ring the vendor and talk to a real person that knows? Guy from APR has always said that if a forum member takes the time to call him he will do something with price.

Keep in mind that the DP Martin bought is different to what APR sell now.

Any particular reason you are only looking at APR?

    Just doing research

    Forewarned is forearmed

Like to go the seller with as much info as possible

Just like going to a dealership. You'd ask around to see what people's experiences are and how the prices and service was.

Not partial to APR. Can see quite a few tunes available.

    I don't understand ur confusion.
    1. Pay for stg 1
    2. Pay for downpipe, which includes an upgraded tune, additional to the stg 1.

If u want apr - that's the path to get to stg 2.

LOL, I understood it the first time you explained it, it was the extra posts from the others that confused me. Thanks all.
