It amazes me that a country like Australia can get aassistance to other countries at the drop of a hat, but when one state suffers a refinery outage, it all becomes too hard to source supply from elsewhere in the country. I mean, surely road or rail delivers could have been made to cover the outage.

I'm heading to Bendigo next week and have been reading alarming stories about how service stations are running low on (or out of) diesel.

I suppose this allows the oil companies to gouge us just a little more. Maybe we have forgotten about the days when a holiday period was always the excuse for a refinery or transport strike.

It may not be over yet. News this morning was that Shell has ordered extra supplies from Singapore and that there might still be problems until after xmas.

All the servos I drove around today from Forest Hill into the city, city to Hawthorn, Hawthorn to Forest hill, not one had diesel anywhere and most have been like that since Sunday morning. None of the ones with it have pushed up the price though which is odd.

Nobody in the SE was showing diesel day. I still have 3/4 tank so I have a week or so worth and two other petrol cars plus 3 motorcycles to ride so I have no real problem but I reckon that by the weekend things should start to get back to normal.

We only have two diesel cars at home, but both have 3/4 full tanks, hopefully this does not last until after Xmas as ABC were reporting yesterday, or we are in big trouble..
