    Another Bluetooth post

    Hi All,

I'm picking up my new Anthracite Grey RS DSG TDI wagon tomorrow, and am very happy about that. I've been going back, forth, up, down, all over the shop, trying to get as much info on a bluetooth kit to suit the Columbus unit as I can, but to be honest the more I look, the more confused I become. I've still got an iPhone 3G.

The Fiscon Basic Plus looks good on paper. The dealer quoted me about $800 for a kit, but couldn't/wouldn't specify the brand. I was given the part number 1K0051437, but a search didn't enlighten me as to whether it is genuine VW, or dealer fitted aftermarket. Then to add to my confusion I note that a lot of VW Golf owners are fitting Skoda kits and Skoda owners are fitting VW kits.

I was also looking at the option of buying on the big auction site from Poland, but as a lot of the posts here related to BT go back a couple of years I'm trying to figure out which one. I'd just like a little current info before buying. Any suggestions recommendations by anyone who has recently had a BT kit fitted to an RS would be much appreciated.

I can't tell you which Fiscon to use with the Columbus but I can tell you that the one I have with my Bolero and iPhone 3G works terrific.

    K1W1,

Thanks for the response. The Fiscon will do everything I want it to do, so I'll most likely go with it.

if ur after an "OEM" kit, try this the "VW Bluetooth KIT RCD mfd3 RNS RNS510 7P6 + Audio A2DP". ebay item# 170512768603.
    its the polish "carsystems".
    it'll cost bout $400 delivered.

and since u have the columbus, install should b easy. because the latest gen rns510 comes with voice control, there will be no need of going through the hassle to retrofit a mic. the rest is plug & play.
u will need someone with vcds to "activate" the bluetooth module for full functionality, once its all installed.

    dArK5HaD0w,

Thanks for your message. I was looking at this kit. It would be nice to have voice control, but not essential. I like the idea of not having to wire in another mic though. I'll start looking through old posts now, but any idea who might be able to do the coding after I install? I'm in Sydney. Thanks again!

Try Strathfield car radio at Burwood on Parramatta Rd. They do all the installs for Audi at Five Dock and have a vagcom for coding.

I too need to install a bluetooth kit in my car, would prefer OEM & it needs to be compatible with iPhone 4. After phoning 3 dealers in Sydney Metro, no one can really give me any information regarding what I'm buying, how it's installed or if it will work with my iPhone. Penrith was especially informative when I asked the part number of the part they have in stock ($600 + install) and said "we don't give out part numbers." I asked "how do I know what I'm buying then?" He replied "you're buying a bluetooth kit." What a joke...

I was thinking of going for the eBay part that darkshadow posted above, but again, Skoda Australia would probably self-combust trying to install something so foreign into a vehicle they know nothing about!

I asked my dealer if they could install the VW/Skoda OEM kit and was told they did not know how. (I bought from Poland)

It goes into to Derek at Euro Auto on Wednesday instead.

don't bother with dealers fitting and coding, unless they've actually done it successfully on a similar car.
no offence to dealers here, but more often than not, they either refuse point blank, or tell u it can't b done, or say they "can" - charge u big & screw something up!!

i've heard that Camden GTI Perfomance r good with coding VAG cars.
they've coded some golfs with the same bluetooth kit.

if i get it....the ebay one....i'd either take it there or to Canberra Volkswagen Centre, since i'm in canberra!!
