I just read the user manual - I do get the "airbag fault" warning although it does not stay on or flash, which makes me wonder what is going on?? I have not deactivated any airbags either.
Hi everyone,
As my car slowly but surely moves towards end of the warranty, I am becoming more aware of minor "niggles" to be fixed. The reverse sensors still go crazy with a trailer hitched after 2 attempts to have it reprogrammed but I am giving up on that one....
I often jump in the car and start it before putting on my seatbelt. I notice the airbag warning will often show up (including an audible "ding") but then disappears after 1-2 seconds. I have assumed this is because I have not buckled up before starting the car although have never really tested it under different scenarios.
Does anyone else experience this or is it actually an airbag fault? If it is, why doesn't the light stay on? It is only as I am first cranking the engine.
Warranty and service in general has been a problem. Bought the car at Steve Jarvin (franchise gone), then booked it into Rick Damelian (gone) and I am now looking at Parramatta as the closest Skoda franchise....
Cheers.

The warning light coming on and staying on is a common Octavia fault, usually caused by a seat connector or wiring problem. Since yours doesn't stay on, perhaps a slightly loose or dirty connector?
Probably a dealer issue unfortunately.
Don't all the light turn on during ignition?
The seatbelt reminder should only ding when you are moving. I've turned mine off via VCDS.
It should log the code in the history.
Might be a seatbelt stalk issue. Touaregs do a similar thing.

Where are you located; RE: closest dealership?
Here's a good habit to get into... Because you have the TDI, you get glow plugs.
1. Get in; sit down
2. Key in; ignition on
3. Belt up
4. Start engine
See what happens with the airbag fault.

Yep, had the patience last night to buckle up before starting the car and sure enough, no warning or chime. A would have thought a seat belt warning would be more appropriate although either way, there is no fault to be concerned about.
