5,000 k Inspection

When I purchased my new Scout I was told that there was a Free 5,000 k service/inspection available from any Skoda dealer. My local dealer says there is no such thing and won't do it. He says it is a Dealer and not a Factory item so it must be done by the Dealer where the car was purchased. (Hundreds of k's away!)

Anyone know about this ?

Yup.. i had the same issue with Lennock but a quick call to the dealer and it was sorted in minutes.

I would say that's correct. I have never heard or read of a free 5k inspection on any new Skoda and there is certainly nothing in any of the owners documentation I've got. It
It's not uncommon for dealers to offer that sort of thing but it's something they do not the factory.

Best idea would be to phone the Dealer I bought car from I guess and see what they have to say.

Dealer wrote 5,000 k in the 'Next Service' line of my service handbook.

That's the dealer then the factory recommended service intervals are 15,000 km or 12 months.

The first service isn't due until 15k if you have had one earlier than that it's either because it was your choice or something the dealer does to generate extra service activity.

I have to say that most likely there is a note in the owner's manual about using the car under severe driving conditions, where they say in case of some servicing items "replace more often" or something like that.

Regardless of that, driving much less than 15,000km per year on one sump of oil is no good if, you going to keep the car for looong time.

The 5000km is just a check of fluid levels. You can do that yourself.

My dealer (who also sold Holden, Hyundai, Mitsubishi) wanted me back because "we do that with all the other cars & it's good to check the oil level". When the 5000km came up, nothing had moved on my car so I rang the dealer & told them & they said stay away/waste of time. It's done mainly as a service to those folk that think a new car doesn't need the bonnet lifted.
