Skoda are very big on fixed price servicing in the UK and have started offering it in NZ in the last 6 months or so. I think it will probably happen here eventaually.

Well, if their services are expensive and you go elsewhere, they don't get ANY money. So they might as well lock you up by giving you prices you are happy to pay. But I think dealers may see their extended warranty as a way to lock you up into a servicetude

And I'd still expect to still get the discount on the new price I was negotiating. I see negotiating fixed priced servicing as them negotiation to KEEP your servicing business, not on the price of the new car.

So after telling Richmond skoda that they were by far the most expensive, they agreed to match Prestons price of $570.00. I asked them why they were so much more dearer and they told me due to overhead costs.

1 thing i was disappointed with, was that I told them that my drivers side inner door handle was creaking when i was resting my elbow on it, and they agreed to look at it. When i returned to pick up the car they told me that there was something loose and they had fixed the issue.
When i hopped into the car and pulled the door closed using the handle, the handle popped up and was completely loose. I was not impressed. I quickly showed them and they took it back into the work shop to fix it, but they couldn't. They then told me that they needed to odrer a whole new handle.

Today i'm going back in to get it replaced.

I hate to tell you but I got the same service for $560, so they make it up as they go. That was in late Nov and it was more than it used to be. I also got a wheel alignment and the 2 yr brake fluid change done as well, so they might have been a bit more flexible.

Nonetheless, they gave me 3 difference prices in the space of a week of inquiring....

Had 30,000 klm service done on our Octy tsi at Northshore just prior to Xmas.
Would have liked to shop around but no time and number one son works in North Sydney and offered to drop it off and pick it up
    Phone quote was 380 - 420.
Bill was of course for $420 including $30 for rotating the tyres , a job which I had done myself at around 23,000klms!
So I got the car back with the most worn tyres back on the front. Not happy Jan.
Sent them email pointing out that a blind five year old could have felt the tyres and told them that the worn ones were already on the rear wheels.
Excuse was the tech was just doing what he always does. WTF?
They rotate the tyres without even looking at them???
No little pennies drop when you feel the tread as you must do to take the tyres off the car???
    I am not going back.

    30k service

Had mine done yesterday. I must say I was pleasantly surprised, under $600 including all the gouging they do on "shop supplies" and "environmental levies" and I had a loan car all day I did over 100km in.
When you get a $600 bill at a Land Rover dealer you immediately assume that they have accidentally left the 1 off in front of the 6.

My 30K service was done at the end of Apr 2010 in Mentone Skoda, cost was just over $500 with brake fluid change and tyres rotation. Also got a SAAB loan car for the day. It was cheapest around that time when I rang around all Melbourne dealers. The service price increased after July last year, I guess.

Had my 45K service done in Preston on Jan 2011, price was just over $400 with tyre rotation, my rear ones (75%) actually got less tread than front ones (85%). Plus they did fill up a liter bottle of oil without charge (My car did use a bit of oil as we all knew). They are the closest dealer for me and they did couple of under warranty repairs previously.

I may go some VW specialist or do it myself (I am doing all oil changes & servicing on my Jap Import cars in NZ) since my car will be out of warranty this year. Also seen Skoda has DSG Scout and Yeti coming in July, may trade my car in for an upgrade...

Just had our 45k service at Trivett for $570.90 which we were pretty happy with. It did include $200 worth of parts (oil and air filters etc) so I found it to be very reasonable. The car is spotless and nice and shiny and we were offered a courtesy car but didn't need it (thank God the one thing mostly right in this city - the trains - is right near the dealer!). Very happy and would recommend Trivett to anyone on the forum in Sydney .
