2016 Octavia RS - 162TSI - Going to buy, just need some opinions

    Hey Team,

I double checked the forum rules about asking questions about buying/pricing and couldn't see anything. If this isn't allowed I do apologise in advance.

I've been shopping around for a new car and have decided on the Octavia RS 2016 build. I was wondering if anyone could give some quick feedback to me on price?

I have got what I feel is a good price, been shopping around the east coast but just wanted to double check.

    Options:
-Octavia 162 TSI RS DSG Sedan $43,090 (Would be a Jan 2016 build date)
-White Moon (originally wanted a gunmetal grey, just Quartz grey it looks like in the 2016 model) +$500.00
    -18 black pack +$500.00
    -Leather seating. +$990.00

    RRP is $45,080.

Price I've got is $40,000 for the car with all onroad costs (including business rego). With the 3 options above to be paid in full above that. So I'm looking at $41,990 all up with the above. After phoning around it seems like a good deal however I thought I would double check. I was flipping up if it was worth trying to get more off or some of the options included (I'm really tight for money) or ultimately that this was a good price and to just go for it. Can anyone offer some thoughts?

Sorry, can't advise on the price. But if you're tight for money, why a new car? Drop the wheels and leather??

IMO that looks like a good price. Some recent searching online for dealer held stock revealed that prices had gone up, in one case by more than $2500 asking price for an MY2016 vehicle with similar specs to that in my signature, but without Turini wheels, Chrome Pack, electric boot, extended warranty and alarm upgrade. I should also point out that was at an Eastern States dealership where the prices are more competitive than here in the West.

If you have the money I say go for it, but I would also suggest trying to extend the budget to include the Tech pack. The Active Cruise Control alone is worth every cent when driving on motorways.

Also be prepared for a wait, a vehicle built in January may not arrive until May or June 2016.

Thanks heaps for the quick replies fellas! Thanks for the feedback, has really helped. It is starting to look like a really good price.

Another dealership actually just called me to tell me that the price I had already was great and they couldn't get down it (he said this didn't happen very often). Originally budgeted for a Jetta 155TSI. So just stretching a bit above my original budget.

The tech pack does look really good, I just feel it will make me a lazy driver! haha

They reckon it should arrive in around March (either side of) as they have a build slot they already own they can modify.

I hope the dealership is correct and you can receive your vehicle around March. But speaking from personal experience, delays do occur. I originally ordered my vehicle and paid deposit on 31/5/14 and was told it should be delivered between September and October. I said to the dealer, that means it will probably be here in November. Then in June I was told it wouldn't be delivered until 2015. At which point I asked for a 2015 manufactured vehicle. I innocently expected in would arrive by about March, only for it to be delivered on 6 June 2015, 53 weeks after my original order.

Now mine is probably the worst example and not typical of most people's experiences. I am just suggesting things can do awry and delay delivery. In our case our vehicle even missed a boat and sat in Brugge, Belgium awaiting the next ship for more than a month.

It is best to be prepared as a long wait or unexpected delay can diminish the purchasing experience, it did in my case.

Now it is just history but at the time is was greatly disappointing.

I hope your purchasing and delivery experience goes well.

It is a great vehicle and worth every cent.

That's a ripper deal. It'd take that in a heart beat. Most dealers won't give you much back on a factory build. IMO that's a winner.

Good deal, but I would question March. I have one being built in wk 2 of jan, pretty much the first week they start production. I'm expecting April/May but they advised may/June a week back.

That's not a bad deal, I paid 46k for a candy white DSG wagon with blackpack 18'(+2 years warranty).
