mission-D concept = bigger and newer octavia.
mission-L concept = 'lauretta' - baby octavia, designed to sit between the fabia and the new octavia (mission-d concept).

both the mission d & l concepts were lauched at different motorshow, so they're very much real.
doing a search on youtube for "skoda mission l" or "skoda mission d" will bring up some good vids.

Given that they are both octavia's one would expect so, surely?

I think the old old octavia had a good look - its got a characteristic style that gives it identity. The original octavia II also had that identity, which I think was largely lost at the front end with the facelift.

At least those original photoshops by whoever made them still has that characteristic octavia look - the one in the vido above, I would say, has almost done away with it, in my opinion.

I guess my whole point is this - some car manufacturers totally lose the identity of a model by changing its looks - as though to try and win over people with style and not substance. I just think it sux because a particular model only hangs around for a few years nowdays and becomes completely immemorable once its gone. 10 years from now noone will say "Oh remember the facelifted octavia II from 2009-2012? Gee that looked good!" - 'cos we only had it for 3 years and then they sold us another car instead.

    I guess I'm old fashioned.

I didn't know that! But it makes sense. In fact, as i've said in other posts, Skoda's aren't ugly, they have a timeless classic look to it. I personally love the Superb design (albeit the sedan rear end is a bit funny, which according to Matt Wiesner, will be fixed in the 2013 FL).

So I didn't mean the current designer is doing a bad job. What I meant to say was the current Octavia is looking a bit dated (of course, it was a 2004 design). So I have no doubt the 2013 model will look good. Even those Internet cutter and pasters based their idea on current Skoda design. In a way, they haven't lost the Skoda look.

I agree that with the new model, it should retain most of the Skoda family theme with only a minor tweaks to make a looking a bit more contemporary. I hate the way that Jap/Kor cars change so much that a new model is a completely different car.

IMO, all they have to do with the Superb, is just stick Octavia rear light. With the Octavia, just paint the B-pillar black rather than body colored, so it won't look like a 1990 Astra/Vectra.

That design is so awful and derivative of other cars...(ie BMW and even Kia)!!!

It looks as old as the song they used for the background music!!

I suggest it's very likely the new Octavia. The feature lines on the doors differ quite a bit from the Rapid...
