I'll see if it can be thrown in, but after finding out what the go is. So far Skoda Oz take a long time to get back on anything.

Personally I'm not too worried about the heat from the engine affecting the paint. If you (try) to touch the top of the bonnet on a hot summers day (black car) you will most certainly come away burnt. If you touch the underside after flogging the engine it's a much cooler experience.

    I asked over at BriSkoda.

They reckon the petrol versions had the insulator until late 2006.

They think the diesels have them because of diesel clatter & to help them heat up quicker & retain the heat while parked.

Well they do say that the RS has that engine note...probably why they put it there. Just thinking about it, cars these days have a lot more heat shielding and insulation/plastic on them, so the probs caused by heat with local cars here years ago probably doesn't exist anymore.

I just had my first service on my RS, $360.00 for a filter and oil? Its the last time they'll ever see my car.

Greasy bloody handprints all over the guards and bonnet as well

    Where was that at?

I'd question that price - after all, how many Skodas are they doing each week? 1 or 2?

I was quoted ~$240 for the 15k service (1.3hrs labour + Oil & Filter) & $390 for the 30k service (2.3hrs labour + oil & filter, pollen filter, brake fluid flush) so it sounds like they have stuffed up.

A certain Datsun cum Mitsubishi cum Skoda dealer in Sydney. There is only one with an (02) area code. Didn't really have time to argue, I'm self employed and it cost me a whole business day spread over two days to have it done at all. What with catching trains and buses and stuff. I ive in The north west of Sydney. They said they thrown in a car wash for free. I don't know what part they washed.

While I was there I noticed nearly every newly registered car had it's front number plate installed by someone with one leg shorter than the other. i.e. not parallel to the ground. Asked them what that was about, answered: "Can't get good help these days"

Some woman rang me a couple of days later and asked if I was satisfied. I told her.

I know the one you mean. Bad place to road test as there is too much traffic. They offered me $4k less on my trade-in than where i bought from.

Penrith might be better for you?
My dealer (not Penrith) gives me a free car wash every month if I want - tried it once & never again. Worth every penny of what it cost me i guess.

I was following a Mini Cooper S Works today. Exhaust pipes, number plate & all badges were the same few degrees out of sync with horizontal.

Asked Skoda HQ themselves about the insulation under the bonnet as Skoda Aus seem to never answer anything.......but Skoda HQ always do, just in poor english....the answer:

Concerning your issue, following. The comfort of the noise level (outside and inside) is lower with the petrol engines. We do not recommend fitting other, non-approved insulations.

So its basically for noise and not much else, after test driving yesterday I could barely hear the engine...so not going to bother...now just to see when the updates really come out.....Skoda are bending over backwards for me this weekend....if all goes well I may come off getting an RS quite cheap.
