    18x8.5" ET45 rims on a 1Z Octavia

    Anyone else got that size and offset on an Octavia?

    I'm deciding between 18x8 or 18x8.5 both ET45. The calculator says the 8.5" will stick out an extra 20mm. I don't think there is that much left in the guards.

    Anyone got some pics of theirs with similar sized wheels?

    Need to sell 1 set of stock rims before I can move on new ones though. So someone buy them

    I think they're 18x8.5 ET45.

    don't really want to get guards rolled. I don't want to risk the paint, although I know a guy who does a fantastic job.

    I think the 8" wide rims stick out by 12mm - this is great fit
    You can go ~5mm more out and still be under the top lip
    So a 20mm poke is going to be close (if not pushing it)

    I think the rears will be outside with 8.5"

    You will have to be carfull going lower with 8.5"

    and that's what worries me. I think ill stick with the 8" wide ones. unless I can get a better offset with 8.5" or 9" wide

    It's 4mm less poke than my old 8" ET35 but that had 15mm more height at the front than a VRS. It would be fine in a straight line but I'm nor so sure about cornering & hitting a bump mid-corner.

    can you get ET50?

    I don't think so. standard sizes makes production cheaper. if I need to I could have them machined to ET50. but ideally not.

    how would it affect mid-corner bump?

    If your going in a straight line then the edge of the tyre will be parallel with the edge of the guard. Hit a big bump & one tends to slip inside the other without much issue.

    If you are cornering, the tyre is at an angle to the guard. Hit a big bump & there may be some conflict.

    Count on $50/wheel for machining & the wheels might not have enough meat to enable machining. Also, you might have to grind a bit off the wheel bolts (probably not).

    I'm not saying don't do it - I almost pulled the trigger on 17x9 ET50 (Audi TT wheels) the other day but the guy wouldn't meet my price. I'm 99% sure they would have worked without issue & I'm now lower than when I had the 17x8ET35

    Good point, as the wheel comes up it gains a little more negative camber and can slip inside the guard

    We really need someone to take one for the team, slap a set of 18" by 8.5" on and go hard

    im fine if you want to take that risk mate

    ill stick with 18x8 with 45 offset.

    went to a few wheel shops today, the stock a crap load of wheels for commos and falcons. and the Japanese falcon = skyline.

    with pretty much everything I liked, they do don't 5x112PCD. so ebay it is!

    someone buy my wheels so I can buy new ones!!!
