18" black pack wheels

I had an annoying incident with a broken bit of concrete sticking out at work which ground against a small section of my brand new car wheel. The machined lips aren't exactly inverted and poke out. Worse still they aren't easy to paint over like the rest. I meant to get a proper spare so wondering if the 18" black lack wheels do it in the boot well? If so I know Simone with brand new wheels in Perth who wants to sell all four with the tyres so if 3 others are in we can maybe get all four over here.

I know the 18s on my MY10 don't quite fit under the boot. The spare which looks full size is not as wide.

I had two trashed wheels, so acquired a set of 4 with the plan of using 2 on the car, 1 in the boot and leave the other for the next time mrs runs to the curb. The full size wheel doesn't fit in the MY10 by a small margin

Yeah I know in my Mk2 they didn't quite fit and in the Mk3 Elegance they did so when the RS came out everyone presumed they would as well, but then came with the tiniest little space saver. At least our Mk2 had a real wheel in there albeit steel.

Anyone know whether they fit and who might want to go in to get a spare wheel/tyre?

i thought the full size 18" tyre did fit in the spare wheel well of a mk2 octavia?!?!
the only thing is the tyre will sit a bit higher off the boot floor. but i presume one would still be able to lay the carpet boot mat down.

My MK2 wagon has a full size spare (steel wheel though), but the full size spare is not full width. It is not a space saver. I remember talking to the sales guy at the time about an alloy spare, and he said at the time an alloy full width spare wouldnt fit. Doh !

Unfortunately, you are stuck with a narrow width spare. but you can be full circumference so no speed restriction to 80kmh

Following an unprecedented run of flat tyres (most through the walls, not the fixable treads), I find the Euro's policy of replacing full size spares (steel or alloy) with "skinny minis" & "goo-&-hopefully-go" aerosol cans totally unacceptable in a country the size of Oz :X, especially for those of us who drive further than the train station, shops, school etc etc.

I'm considering an RS Occie BUT, I want a full size spare. No ifs or buts. So, some time ago, I remember reading somewhere that an AUDI wheel would fit the wheel well. Unfortunately, I can't recall which AUDI model's wheel it was so looks like I need to conduct more research.

IF anyone does know which alloy or steel wheel with tyre fits the Occy's wheel well, please post the details.

I can feel your pain on the non-repairable punctures in tyres, I had two in my just traded MkII Octavia RS and in third to half worn tyres, wouldn't be so bad if the tyres were nearly done, but nooooo...
It's not just Euros that are using space savers. At least my MkII Octy had a "full-size" spare, OK not an 18" alloy like the main wheels, but at least it was a 205/16 tyre. One disappointing aspect of the MkIII is the move to a "pizza cutter" spare. I'm seriously considering searching around the wreckers for a spare out of a smashed MkII Octy or MkV Golf. My only concern is that I think the front brake discs are quite a bit bigger on the new car, so may not fit inside the 16"wheel.

I thought that if you are running one of the recommended wheel/tyre size options in the 16 to 19 inch rim size range then the outside tyre diameter is basically the same so that they all 'fit' in the spare wheel well. The compromise is that the width of the larger sizes is higher than the boot floor which puts a lump in the floor cover that will eventually get distorted/ damaged when loads are put in on it.

My car is fitted with 225/45/17 tyres and the spare is a steel 205/55/16 which fits easily over my smaller (103tsi) front brakes.
It would not take much effort to build up the floor height with sufficient layers of offcut carpet or underlay for a larger or full size spare. You could use plywood but I'd resent the weight and lack of noise suppression that went with it.
The spare was adequate for a 250 km late night country run at a slightly compromised speed, My only complaint was how noisy it was.
You could run the 16 inch spare in the RS versions even with the bigger front brakes but that means that if the puncture was on the front wheel then you would have to put the spare on a rear and move the rear wheel forward. Two changes required but there is only a 50/50 chance of that.
I pity those that have more expensive German cars fitted with run-flats. Totally wrong for this country (imo) unless you never venture beyond metropolitan areas.

Just got a nail in my pretty much new tyres today, so thats a new one gone now. I didn't put the flat one under the floor to check, but it didn't look like it would fit height wise. I left it with the tyre shop to replace while I can still use my car. Will be fun driving on the freeway at 80km/hr home tonight.
