I have 4 of the OEM 16"x6.5 rims I want to sell....... Would even split them. 3 are unmarked, one has a 10c piece size scuff in the clearcoat.

Having said that, Here's my rundown on what I have tried & what I think:

16x6.5 OEM with 205/55x16. Reasonable weight -17.3kg inc tyre (8.7 + 8.6). Good ride. Good handling, possibly a touch too compliant in the sidewall but that might be the CSC2. Cheap but good quality tyres available. Doesn't fill the guards quite enough. Speedo & odo read too far under (9%) for my liking.

17x8 BBS, ET35: Loved the weight - 18kg (7.4 + 10.6). Thought the 225/45x17 a fraction lacking in sidewall cushion but made the speedo better & the odo acceptable. Hated the offset (stuck out too far on the front) and would prefer somewhere between ET45-52. Would like to try 17x8 with 235/45x17 - at least they'd be cheap.

16x7.5 ET52 Audi A4 rims with 225/55x16. A bit heavy - 20kg (11+9). Perfect offset, almost perfect width (would still like 8"). Diameter has made the speedo perfect (reads 3% out now) and the odo a fraction wrong. 225/50x16 would be ideal.

When I get bored with the Audi wheels, I'd like to try a 17x8 ~ET48 with a max weight of 8kg & 235/45x17 with a max weight of 10kg.

Thanks for the info on your tune mate. do you have a link to that thread so i can have more of a read?

Ok, you lost me with all the wheel stuff. I understand the tyre sizes and weights. but when you talk about ET35 etc. you lost me!

Also, what is wrong with the factory speedo/odometer? I know cars are manufactured to be out a touch, but 9% sounds a bit steep!!

not sure if you can get into this part of the forum

At its simplest, if you have 2 identical wheels, ET35 will stick out 15mm more than ET50.

There are many threads (most of them locked) about the difference between your actual speed & the speed shown on the speedometer. In my case, when my speedo was reading 110kmh, I was only doing 100kmh (verified with 2 different GPS). Apparently this is within specification. The odometer wasn't as bad but still about 4% wrong - so I was arriving at my 15,000km service having only done ~14,400km. The speedo thing is supposedly an ADR to protect you from your own stupidity but neither of our other cars are so far "wrong". I equate it to setting your watch 15 minutes fast so you aren't late for work.
My speedo is now 3kmh under (speedo reads 110/actual is 107) but the odo is now 15,000km = 15150km so I need a slightly smaller diameter tyre than my current 225/55x16.

They would suit the car but I think he's a bit optimistic about the price (eg: add decent tyres & they aren't that cheap all of a sudden)

What width are they? Try and get the weight too. More weight means more inertia to overcome when accelerating, therefore more fuel usage & not as quick.

I don't notice it too much as most of my driving is on the motorway, but if you just drive around the suburbs all the time then you'll take a hit.

the OEM 16x6.5 are just under 9kg; my Audi 16x7.5 are ~11kg; my BBS 17x8 were <8kg.

If you can stay under 10kg. Be patient & something will turn up at a good price. BBS, OZ, Enkei, etc
