Wow, so they have put anti-freeze in the windscreen washer solution. Makes sense for colder climates. I suppose the fluid would last ages too, so probably worth it.
Anyway i'm stuck having to go back to the dealership to comply with the 'extended warranty', so every time I service the car you would hope they top up the windscreen washer fluid.

Here's a question (after reading the TSB), is it possible to put bi-xenon headlights in after market?
I would love bi-xenon headlights, but would have had to order the car direct from Skoda, as opposed to getting a car from the dealer lot.

If you go with the so called factory kit check carefully what protocols it supports. The real genuine factory kit uses the RSAP protocol which basically limits connectivity to Nokia phones so be very careful before you jump that way.
There is plenty of poor feedback on the Fiscon unit. Kufatec who make it have a poor track record with their products and supporting them and the units have numerous problems depending on the version of firmware on the RNS 510's.

There's a thread of the units available in the Audio section - http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f78/...510-31461.html

The Skoda kit which is cheaper and a much higher quality unit that works well. It offers full voice functionality, the microphone integrates into the overhead console (the Fiscon one doesn't), the microphone can be used with the RNS 510 for voice functions (the Fiscon one won't work) and the sound quality is better (in both directions). If there are firmware updates to the RNS 510 the Skoda kit keeps working whereas the Fiscon you may have to wait months for a firmware upgrade and the list goes on, you may be lucky and the unit works but there are plenty of people with problems with the unit and the way it operates.

The Skoda kit can be picked up on ebay from Europe for around $400 and works with pretty well any phone you can throw at it.

The cost to install the standard bi-xenons on a Golf comes out to between $5000 and $6000 so the Skoda will be a similar price. Will be cheaper if you buy the parts from overseas but you're still looking at 2 days labour to install it and all the sensors.

(note this is to do a full install like it would be if you had ordered it out of the factory)

The Octavia comes with projector lights standard however so not all the same issues apply if you were to retrofit a kit however I wouldn't recommend it.

Hi Maverick, would you have a model no or name of the Skoda kit? The kit my dealer was going to fit was going to cost more to install than the Fiscon unit.
    Thanks for the feedback.

I have a heap of info on the skoda kit here - Skoda Bluetooth Car Kit

Here are some kits on ebay, check with the seller as to which one is correct for your car. If you want to install it with the metal bracket and cover as shown on my site above I have the part numbers listed, you could also ask the seller.

Thanks Maverick. I've decided to go with the dealer fitted bluetooth system. He assures me it works with an iphone (I might put in an email that if it doesn't work i'm going to ask for my money back).

Be worth checking which one they're installing as there are a few and some integrate better than others.

The "factory" kit they were fitting in Australia for a long time was a parrot kit that was just rubbish and they've had other similar units as well. The Skoda kit is the best by far but there is a newer one coming in now so it may be that one. The nokia premium kit is not all that flash due to limited phones working with it.
