Pics (not) of my white 75 (not 76) model B1 TS Coupe - made in Germany?

Actually just looked and I don't think allowed to post pics yet,as I'm a newbie. Is this right? Regardless I now have the white coupe here in Sydney and can hopefully identify the clutch issue soon. Just checked the compliance plate and it's dated 4/75 so maybe it sat around before being sold in 76. I wanted to show some pics as it's nice looking fairly straight car but that can come later- can anyone tell me where these assembled in Australia? if so to what extent? always find it interesting to see what the protectionist car policies of the past conjured up. Also is this long or short gear stick model ( I need to track down gear lever bushes) Chassis number is on compliance plate is 3242202418. Apologies for so many questions new to these VWs thanks

All (edit: "early") B1 Passats were assembled in Australia for more info check out this link

    1970 - 1974 - Club VeeDub

& the following pages. In 1976 the gear linkages were modified in the LS 1600 models & the TS was discontinued. I have A TS that left the factory in Germany in April 1974, its compliance plate is stamped June 1975 the same month that my father bought it. Also I think you can post photos now, looking forward to seeing them

You can post photos, there's instructions here http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/foru...ges-45153.html

The last of the B1 Passats sold here, the facelift model, were fully imported from Germany.

What's up with your clutch? They're pretty simple things most parts are still available.

Thanks will work out the photobucket thing and post some pics, the clutch works but won't declutch and re-engage properly (hope I am describing this properly) so if it's in the mood you can change up through the gears but then when you want to come down from fourth it stays in fourth or worse comes out of fourth and won't selected anything as happend to me slowing down for roadworks on the freeway - not great fun! The gearlever bushes are also worn which doesn't help.

Sometimes the cables can fray and the loose stands get jammed up in the cable sheath.

New cables are still available from local VW specialist.

Bush kits sometimes come up on US ebay. Be sure to search for "Dasher" as the B1 Passat was called there.

Thanks Peter and everyone for the info have ordered a set of bushes to sort out the gearchange, looks like the spiggot Bush(?) is the clutch issue - anyone got any ideas for sourcing a dash anyone know of a car being wrecked that may be a source of interior parts
