B1 clutch upgrade

Hi All,

I saw there was an earlier post by Nick_80 without reply.

What upgrade options are there for the standard 190mm clutch in a B1 passat?

I have a 1975 Passat running a 2.0L (8V) from a 1997 Mk1 Golf paired with the original '75 flywheel and 4sp manual box.
The 190mm 'sports' clutch kit I installed with the original 1.6L has nearly packed in with extra torque from the 2.0L

I have seen suggestions (not confident ones) elsewhere the Audi 4000 clutch kit (200mm) may be an option but is a costly gamble if it cannot be confirmed.

Hopefully the detail is sufficient and if anyone can provide some advice, that would be greatly appreciated.

Great question, but I'm not sure you'll find the answer in Oz.

Might be worth asking the same question over on Vortex in the B1 section.

I've got a B2 clutch setup I'm planning to use when the time comes.

Don't completely discard using the 190mm clutch though, they can be modified to handle the power.

Best bet would be to ask Jim Berry what he can do.
