1974 B1 Passat LS

Hi :
I am new to this forum .
On the B1 Passat I noticed there is 2 type of linkages on the gear box , one short on a tower thing and one straight from the floor .
Is the gear box the same or are they different ?
Can the one straight from the floor be changed to the one with the tower ?
I have a 1974 LS and want to change it to the 1977 type .

Thank you for fixing my threads , I was wondering some thing is not write .
I have to say i admire the work you did on your Passat .
I wanted mine to look like a GLS but was not able to find the door cards .
