X Force Varex system on a MK4 Golf

Anyone on the forum got a varex on their mk4 golf, if so did you have to modify the rear bumper to fit the system in?

I would like to know too, im planning on putting a varex on my mk4 golf as well. ^^sorry post a different question on your thread^ to those who know if i do a complete exhaust from headers to tip do i need a tune? or am i better of with a cat back or jus a muffler change?

Mate i dont think that you will need to make modificarions .. you can buy the twin tip varex muffler. . as far as i can see .. there's no need for modification of the bumper .. the thing that might need modifying is the hanger of the exhaust .. which is an exhaust shop's job.
but that's just me .. if anyone else has any input .. feel free to correct me if im wrong.

hi mate ,

you could run the full system without a tune .. but in doing that you will not get the most out of it .. if you have a GTI .. i would do the turbo back .. and then tune it ..
if you are doing it purely for sounds ... then i wouldn't bother with the other bits .. just a muffler and a resonator .. if you are looking for some crackling ... get a high flow cat.

The Bora has a cutout for the exhaust on the lower valance. GTI has the exhaust hidden behind the valance.
It would look weird having the exhaust come out below the valance, so chop it or get the Bora part with the cutout. Or have the tip hidden.

there is a wall behind the rear bumper too made from metal.. goes along the rear and if you dont cut a section off, then your muffler will have to hang heaps low!

Thanks for the reply, I got a quote today for the varex $700 installed and the guy said that I would need to mod the bumper as the it's a big system, now I've seen a video where a mk4 gti has it installed and it's hidden behind like the stock one so I am not sure if he has even done one before on the golf. Now is that a good price for the varex? I got another quote for a sport system $500 from the same guy.

I currently run my muffler under the stock rear valance, I would not recommend it. You will scrape every time you back out of a drive way if you are low. Get an anni valance with the cutout if you want exposed tips, I have one on the way
