Shezzsh!! if it wasn't for that pesky internet, I woulda got away with it too.......LOL
    sorry bout that

ok here we go...... my orig call for H E L P on melburg luft:

look I thought when the guy said yeah you just plug it in, that was what it involved in complete.....

Guess thats why ebays so great and so badddd!!

So anyone got any advice on where I can wire in a keyless entry module on a 2001 GL Golf..... there are all the usual wires and at risk of confusing you with my own descriptions of it all I've posted the included wiring diagram below:

    --------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so the wiring diagram...... the top bit is the module I mount in the car (reads the remote) and apparently I need to wire this in pneumatic wiring...??

Really am struggling to know what the F%&K I'm doing here??
Would really love someone to just say "theres a yellow wire here, this is open and a blue here, thats close....so on and blah blah"

Also what wires are required from the keyless module and what are not?

also where is the "airlock" they speak of, in the door or ??

It can't be that hard can it, I've installed plenty of stuff over the years with absolute ease!!

LOST is me.... and to add I've had half the dash and the drivers door apart several times to no avail, I test with muti meter but the results never seem to match what is posted online (from various resources) and again too add all these resources are'nt exactly a 2001 GL Golf so I guess each model has different wire colours????

    Embellish that knowledge dominions

I actually just got a keyless installed the other. Appearently it isn't so straight forward because the central locking module on our cars utilizes a pulse for lock and unlock. I believe it is two pulses for unlock and one for lock. or something like that.

Anyways, he installer told me that you are required to get an additional module that will translate the central locking signal from your car alarm in a pulse.

That's all i understood. I usually keep far away from electrial stuff in my cars.

    Cheers,
    Augy

Maybe the system they fitted needed that interface but I think that the one Garth has will work fine. There is only one pulse required for each operation, it just goes into a different wire.

If your installer is used to non-european cars maybe that's why he thought it was problematic.

With some thought, those relays can be configured to do all vehicles.

Well Augy your cool for sort of staying away from this stuff but, it really is quite easy (if your willing to get the old multi meter out) LOL

Gavin you are a legend, your diagrams and GOLDEN advice over the phone was enough to set me straight, I feel like driving to ADE to buy you a brewski....

now I cannot stress enough, if you are doing a keyless entry and your thinking "I better test this before I seal her up"....

MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE ALL THE DOORS as the fkin thing WILL NOT work unless doors are all shut....

the unlock works fine with doors open, u can hear it BUT, the lock will not!!

I think in the end this was really the big mystery..... Golf and I are still friends though he he.....

so its in, it works and I'm happy...... thanks to you Gav, legend!!!!

Thanks Garth. Glad that worked out.

You can check with the doors open, if you are concerned about getting locked out. You need to flick the catches in the door lock but remember to release them again by lifting the handle.

    Cheers

    Gavin
