Wiper conversion

So $120 for Aero Wiper arms, $35-40 for a set of Aero blades, and about $40-50 for a rear Polo Aero wiper. Not too bad but it's a lot of money just to have nicer wiper arms heh.

Didn't someone find some $5 blades from KMart that do the trick?

i just got a front set of aero arms and blades ex UK for $150 including delivery, part of a group buy. I'm just hoping its going to continue to rain a bit longer so I get to use them before next winter!

Well, I took Mrk Mickey's advice, and investigated the Bosch wipers further.


Found out that unlike what my VW buddy and all the wreckers i visited said, the aero wipers DO fit the pre 2000 arms. Instead of forking out dough at VW or over the net (my wipers were driving me crazy, i needed them now!!) I went down to supercheap and found the "Bosch aerotwin" (also known as Bosch ICON elsewhere I believe) replacement wiper heads.

Now, $40 later I am a VERY satisfied convert, these new wipers are great!! $80 from VW for just the wiper blades? Not f**king likely mate!!

simple theory

but genuine oem, it'll fit perfect and you have no issues.

be tight and go aftermarket, it'll look different, wipe different and wear out quicker.. do it right the first time.

definately a worthwhile mod !

I think they're cheaper if you order from someone like German Auto Parts or MJM Autohaus. ECS Tuning has the front set for USD$120 + USD$46 for the rear (from a Polo). Expensive, innit?

Will try and head down to the wreckers today, so long as we don't have another mini hurricane in Melbourne today!

Yeah, in the MkV golf they were slightly different to the MkIV. The MkIV got them with the year 2000 model update.


For all thouse wondering, the Bosch direct replacement areo's are still working like a dream and in my opinion, perform far better than the originals at low speeds as this was where I was having the issues with the wipers jumping over the screen

Some Chinese website is selling Aero Wipe Blades for excellent price, however, it's for LHD.... does anyone know if I can make another hole so it will also fit into our Golf in Australia? Basically, they're selling at $6 for a pair of brand new aero wiper blades... damn cheap compare to the ones here...
