    Windscreen fluid sprayer failed.

    Hi guys.

    I'm having a problem with my windscreen fluid sprayer(s). Not sure if this is the
    correct term ?

    Over the past month I have experienced a drop in pressure from my windscreen sprayers. In the past week or two the passenger side one has stopped spraying completely which has seemingly caused the drivers side sprayer to drop even further in pressure. It won't reach any further than halfway up the glass anymore.

    At a service recently it was commented on that the sprayer and sprayer lines were very brittle.

    After inspecting the sprayers I'm not entirely sure how to get to the lines to fix these. They appear to be tucked inside the bonnet. Has anyone fixed this problem before or does anyone have a link to a DIY? I've searched but have not been able to come up with anything.

    Secondly what would be my easiest way to track down any extra parts I require ?

    The line from the washer jet to the washer fluid reservoir is made of plastic. Over time with so much exposure to water and changing temps they get very brittle and snap. You probably have a minor crack somewhere.

    Not uncommon at all. I bought my car with the jets not working. Found out this was due to the line having about 5 splits. I replaced mine with rubber tubing instead.

    I couldn't run the new line in the same position of the factory one because a big piece of it remained inside the chassis rail. To run the new rubber line, I fixed it to the outside of chassis rail, on the inside of the guard, and secured with flat cable clips. The tricky part is working out how to connect it to the bonnet without it getting crushed when the bonnet is closed. A bit of mucking around and you'll work it out. Annoying job though. Inside the bonnet I used plastic t-pieces to connect the jets. They will probably crack in a few years but I'm not worried - it only cost a few bucks. Metal would be heavy and would clang against the bonnet.

    Also - don't forget to get a new set of jets just to make life easy. About $14/piece from VW.

    Mine cracked aswell.i went to bunnings and bought garden water sprinkler kit it comes with a 5-7mm hose and straight line connectors and the T connectors.hooked it up for less than $5.oo

    Open your bonnet and youl see under where the water jets sit a black plastic cap somehow with a flat head screw driver pop it off and you will see the hose disconnect it and pull it out towards the bonnet hinge.Straight line connect a new hose and start again.

    Also pull the pump out of the bottle, and check for algae and soap build-up.

    Pump is nice and easy to get at, and comes out easily enough.
