I have a Gen 4 sport. Goes great except steering feels wierd. It has an 'indecisive' feel in rutted roads like King St Sydney and tends to wander abit. What is really odd is that when it comes up to a rutted or uneven surfaces on the tarmac the suspension geometry seems to flex that can be felt through the steering wheel and it wanders and loses directional stablity The car wobbles with short bouncy cycles at times too. It does creak abit around the rear strut areas and there are the odd 'poping' type sounds in the body when going over bumbs.

I took it to Inchscape at Artarmon and they said it was standard for a sports suspension setup to behave this way. Funny thing is that I once had a Imprezza RV that used to do the exact same thing ( the irony is that I got rid of it to get back into a VW because of it) I used to have a 99 GLE and it was sold as a rock.

SO I am thinking getting an alignment and toning down the rear camber to -1.2 and toe out to +0.11 and front toe in to -0.2 and camber to 0. this is to see if the alignment is too agressive and is over reacting with the road. Other than that I am thinking worn or loose suspension links and bushings. Could it be the rack or tie rods are out of alignment. All looks okay to me. Other that that might be body flex.

Has anyone else come across this type of behaviour? Any ideas? Cheers Steve
