Hi guys, sorry to resurrect this issue but i've got a question in regards to this charcoal filter. Can this filter be redirected to be placed somewhere else in the engine bay? Does the length of the hoses matter or will the vacuum lines work the same irrespective of hose lengths?

The reason I'm asking, is I have a mk5 GTI, and recently bought a BSH stage 2+ PCV fix kit, and this EVAP system (charcoal filter) is in the way. When I initially bought the PCV fix kit, I only saw images from Left Hand Drive cars, which don't have this charcoal filter in the same spot, leaving a perfect opening for the catch can.

    Any help would be greatful.

I have that ticking noise only when i park....when i give it revs...it just stops. But when its just sitting there idling...i can hear that tick...of the top of that box..that circled bit. I put my hand on it..and yer its ticking. Can someone email me as to what to do about it. Would appreciate it enormously.

It the activated charcoal filter control solenoid mate, you will here it most at idle, ticking on and off as it is meant to. It works in accordance with the ECU, and does a couple of things, it controls fuel vapours being released to the inlet manifold. Your ECU dictates the duty cycle of the solenoid, The 02 sensors give feedback to the ECU on how the mixture is going to keep it close to ideal mixture, lets say the engine is leaning a bit the ecu will run the solenoid for a bit and thats when you here it clicking you will notice its in line with the inlet manifold, when it clicks it lets the vac of the manifold suck in the vapours, this lets more fuel vapour into the inlet manifold. Dont worry about the clicking its totally normal.
When you park your engine heats up, when you rev the coolant pump is circulating the coolant more then the engine get marginally cooler, thats why you hear it then, its working perfectly
