Side note, I also use the Nulon "Red Type" G12+ coolant in my Bora. Meets the specs, doesn't stain or corrode the plastic either.
Besides constant coolant leaks, never had a issue.
Nulon is still made here (production was moved from Moorebank NSW to Fuchs plants in Sunshine VIC and Beresford NSW) just no longer AU owned. + Nulon will now benefit from Fuchs knowledge so in many ways it's still a good thing.
Good to know about the standards, I've been using Nulon 5w-30 Euro for a long time but it's only been in recent years that they've added the "diesel" bit to the labels, so it's probably just a marketing thing. Also I've never had an issue with it, it's been perfect.
Was only considering the swap because like you mentioned the donk is getting on in age and thought it might be time to running something a bit thicker. I'll take a look at the Penrite. Cheers mate

If anyone actually wants 5w30 synthetic, autobarn has gone bonkers and will sell you 10litres for $60. My local had sold out, but I got supercheap to price match

I've used Penrite for years now (including in my Bora V6 4Motion when I had it, along with Subarus and the Kia Stinger GT I had for a few years) and have never had an issue with it. I've done oil tests, etc with it and it's always just performed. About to start using their 0W-20 Eco oil in my A4 (it's their certified oil for Audi).
Nothing to see here...
