Anyone had an experience with Royle Purple oils?
I'm keen to upgrade to something abit better than the Mobil 1 I've been using and I've heard good things about Royal Purple (Although it is damn expensive)
i've use Neo in my bikes so i may give that a go next change, the first change was done by the mechanic when i serviced it. I think he used half synthetic. I usually use fully synthetic first change or when i'm running in an engine.
but yeah i'll give the Neo a go next time, not sure on the weight yet:

Royal Purple is alot more expensive than that. :O
However, my local(ish) hardware store carries their full range and I like being able to just pop down and pick up a bottle should I need it rather than order over the internet.
Cheers,
Dave
hey,
i just sent my mk4 gti (stock) for a service at my local dealer and found out that they use mobil 10w40 semi-synthetic oil on the car. apparently fully synthetic oil is too thin for the 1.8T engine? any truth in this? from this thread it sounds like fully synthetic is the best? appreciate your thoughts on the matter! thanks!
evidently the dealers are not then. ****s me. is there something official (ie anything on the vw print/website) that i can refer the dealer to which says that fully synthetic oil is recommended for the car and thus should be used instead of the semi-synthetic sludge they're putting in my car? can i make them replace the oil now? this is the last time i service with dealers!!!
This is the oil they used in my last VW dealer service. I picked up a 20 Litre drum of it for "in-between" oil changes.
