What have you done to your mk4 (golf/bora) today?

I think the issue with that would become that if you had bolt on spacers you wouldn't be able to attach them to the hub and if they were slip on spacers then the wheels would always require longer bolts. Hope that made sense.

you have then modified a crucial part of the car from its intended design. you have also potentially created a weakspot. You have not had this R&D'd and engineered.

You would definately be treated the same as slip on spacers and cop the sticker. I tell you this with 100% clarity. 1: because of my work, and 2: because i asked a sgt at HWP a similar thing in relation to tack welding the coilovers once they were set to remove adjust ability.

His response "It is still illegal because the part is being used in a way other than that the manufacturer intended".

    Qld Modifications

Hi - I know that Qld Transport's Modifications booklet states that "The wheel track must not be reduced to less than the
standard track specified by the vehicle manufacturer
for the particular model of vehicle.
The track of a car or car derivative may be increased
by up to 26mm beyond the maximum specified by
the vehicle manufacturer for the particular model of
vehicle. Off-road passenger vehicles fitted with front
and rear beam axles, may have an increase in track
up to 50mm beyond the maximum specified by
the vehicle manufacturer for the particular model
    of vehicle."

    and also

"All rims fitted to an axle must be of the same diameter,
width and offset. They must not have a circumferential
weld other than that which attaches the outer rim to
the centre. All rims must have stud hole pitch circle
diameters suitable to the hub. Wheel nut tapers must
be appropriate to the wheel and must engage the thread
of the wheel studs for at least the same length as the
nuts provided by the vehicle manufacturer."

That's why I don't have any spacers or modified rims. I went with hub extensions instead...

Ok, cool, thanks. What are 'hub extensions'? Aren't they bolt on spacers?

Yeah, I was just being silly. When the hubs and bolt on spacers are painted the same colour they look like OEM tho... they even say Made in Germany, like my VW...
