One other thing, looking for a chrome strip to cover over the black rubber side skirts on the doors/bumpers. Anyone know where you can find these?
Hi fresh,
Sorry about the link, the fact that I've bought them isn't the problem, there's 6 (sets) available, and the listing is still active. Just paste this description in the ebay search bar:
18" WHEELS VW GOLF JETTA GTI SCION TC AUDI TT FREE CONTINENTAL U.S. SHIPPING
There's also a staggered set available, 8" fronts, 9" rear. Same price, but 9" was a bit much for me on my first mod.
PS - I also got him down a bit on the price too (product & shipping), see how you go.

Yeah, I nearly bought one with the coilovers, but the guy said there'd be no discount in postage as something like a swaybar has to be packaged separate. So, I thought I'd see how I go without a replacement sway bar, then get one later if I need it.

Yeah, I really want to do this, I now have a vision for the car, it's name will be: SMOKEY, grey & black all over! ..eventually. After the wheels & suspension go on, then I'm pretty locked in for (proper?) smoked tail lights, research pending. Then black badges, de-badge the 'golf' on the back, and black background with clear front side indicators. Maybe do the mod where you 'black out' the inner headlight surrounds. Bam, done.
Yeah, I'm so relieved that all that research & searching is over, and so pumped of what I've ended up ordering!
Dylan, if you were closer, I'd definitely pay you to come up. But you're a bit far, and then some!
I haven't rang VW Village yet to get a price of installing the coilovers, but I think it'll be too high, and I'll have to pay someone who 'knows what they're doing' cash money to help me install them. Any takers in Sydney ............
Dark Grey Mk4 Golf, 1.8T GTI conversion, APR stage 1, stock air intake, FMIC, 3" to 2.5" Exhaust, FK AK Street Coils, Black 18" (Avant Garde M310's ?), tinted tails, ...
Yeah, I found sooooo many of that similar style in a 5x112 and 5x120 stud pattern, but none in 5x100 at all! That's why I ended up with these particular ones... pcd: 5x100, bore: 57.1, et:30. Perfect. ... Matte Black, Double Perfect.
They also have some nice (hyper?) silver ones too, but I just wanted black/dark grey... Actually, I think the ones I was looking at are the ones you're looking at! (possibly SLIGHTLY nicer shape than mine)...

I got him down to $800 on the wheels, and $440 on the postage (economy but still reg'd, insured & 6-7days!). $1240 Aussie dollary-doo's total!

Are you going to run spacers?
Yeah that's them I think I'll get them in 8.5 x 9.5 though, but that seller seems reasonable and a decent price to. can't wait to see fitted pics.
if people want smoked, look into brands such as Hella and maybe FK. no fake ones off ebay as the fit and quality just isnt worth it if its a dodgy...
sway bars you could get away with longer end links to a point (50mm max drop??). then I believe the best option is FK or H&R sways. I've been talking to a guy over in the UK and he is having more problems with his frame hitting the drive shafts rather then his H&R sway. and hes on air...
Other option is completely removing it... fixes the under steer problem, but car has huge amounts of body roll even on coils...
suspension is pretty easy... if people have spare time i suggest giving it a good. i did it in my driveway with no stands or spring compressors or proper tools. if you can get a second set of hands for some of the things its good also...
kenbot, not sure if you told me... how many KM on your car? maybe worth getting new strut tops and bearings while your at it! can get away without it, but usually they are stuffed already and coilovers just push them over the line. get some R32/TT ones if you decide to
Totally.
If mine causes problems, I guess I will remove it while ordering a new one. Money I can't spend unless I have to. Even the smoked tail lights are above this on the list at the moment.
Mine has done 133,000km. But I'm 99% sure the owner told me that she got the strut tops replaced when she got something else done (brake pads?). As for the 'bearings', do you mean the wheel bearings? Not sure on that one, still waiting for the previos owner to scan & email all the receipts they showed me when I bought it. Fingers crossed it was the bearings they replaced & not the shocks (that I'm removing)!

there is bearings on top of the suspension, only cost a few $$ im pretty sure.
either way, its not that hard to swap others on... iv done it without removing the suspension twice now...
