McDub - Had the same problem with my custom DP and the fix I used was to reshape the heatshield, both top and bottom of DP (it's very thin metal) and it should be fine.. you can push the heatshield down with a bar or something.. hope that helps

fitted my new headlights. replaced the drivers side front inner lining and put metal drop links in to replace the plastic ones
Ordered a unibrace!
cheers might give that a go. you need to take the downpipe off first though?
and yeah geoff the melted bumper. they must have fitted it poorly and then seen it melt when touching (cos i can see plastic on the exhaust), and then must have moved it later.
and now i've got another issue, my ecs strut bar doesn't fit!!
how can they get something so simple, wrong? it hits the body of the car in the middle, so i can't get the mounting sections where they need to be. physically doesn't go in any position! it's not a LHD/RHD thing is it?
Could be a LHD/RHD issue...the chassis number bit jutting out is offset to the drivers side a bit.
it is offset to one side, but i checked out vortex and it still seems to stick out on the same side
VWVortex.com - who has the cleanest mk4 engine bay?
i don't think my luck could get any worse with this ecs order....
thanks for the offer, i could probably also get that done at my work, though i had a look at the spacer, and you couldn't machine it down because there isn't material on the inside (the ID follows the same stepped contour, kinda hard to explain without pic...)
Replaced my smashed driver's door window on Saturday, am loving having the Golf back on the road, the novelty of the work car wore off pretty quick, one can only put up with driving a heap-o-poo hilux 4x4 for so long after having a Golf
