Just replaced all the plugs and coils.

Out of interest's sake I found

    • 6 x NGK PZFR5D-II spark plugs (I replaced them with new identical units.)
    • 4 x Rev A coils mfg date 43/01 Bremi (Probably original with the car)
    • 1 x Rev N coil mfg date 16/05 Bremi
    • 1 x Rev N coil mfg date 13/08 Bremi (The VW AU one I put in last week)

All plugs were finger tight - I spun them out by hand with no ratchet on the extension.
New plugs were installed to 25NM as per Bentley manual.

I put all 6 of the GAP coils in so they're all the same and I'll keep the REV N Bremi ones as spares.

If anyone wants a REV A one to keep in the glovebox for the next big road trip, just in case, let me know. (They'll be a lot cheaper than VW AU )

Along with Manaz' ECS Group Buy I was considering the ECS Electrics Refresh kit for peace of mind. Actually tbh i am considering the suspension refresh as well along with a full fluids change in the engine and gearbox and maybe even new rotors and a new battery.

How do you figure out the date? I just purchased 3 x 022905100N from ECS as this was the part number on the coil I got from VW when one let go a couple of weeks ago. I got confused with all the different numbers and went with that one. I saw the GAP coil for $20 but they dont even list the part number on their site as far as I could tell so I wasnt sure about it

cutting it fine that's for sure. must have been seconds away from running out.

The mfg date is stamped in the epoxy near the base of the connector on the Bremis or stamped into the body on the Eldors. It's written in ww/yy format (where ww=week and yy= year.) eg 43/01 is week 43 of 2001.

The GAP ones are OEM out of Mexico FYI and are a perfect fit compared the the razor sharp chinese ones off e-bay.
