Sounds like it should run nicely!

Bilstein PSS9s for me, with OEM 22mm FSB (already in place).

all shocks were 110% stuffed so good to have them out, a lot smoother, just more exaggerated bumps, so not to bad considering how low and the price i paid.

So fronts are getting swapped back in until i get my sway bar and rears wound up a bit.

Will post pics and write up of what iv done when im finished.
Can't wait to see the before and after pics! Trying to decide on coilovers or not atm!

Coilovers are interesting. In general you get more adjustability (height, height+rebound/damping and height+rebound/damping+compression as you pay more and more for them), but they generally give a harder ride than shock and spring combinations (though for some cars, rear coilovers are effectively the same thing because the spring isn't over the shock anyway).

There are also different designs - monotube vs twin tube (I suspect that standard shocks have the same design types available here), each of which has different pros and cons - monotube designs shed heat better, and potentially offer better control, whilst twin-tube designs can have longer travel and are less prone to catastrophic failure due to physical impact.

I went with coilovers because a set came up at a price that made them worth getting over replacement shocks and springs - the adjustability (height plus rebound) is a bonus in my instance.

Yeah Manaz, I think coilovers will be a little overkill for my needs in all honesty, I think it's really the adjustability that makes me consider them

I thought the mono-tube is the stronger design due to the fact the casing is extruded? Then again what you say about longer travel would certainly make the Koni's better in a large impact.

In all honesty I think I'll end up with the B8's and Pro Kit like Dub_Star_V6 - I've done a bit of looking around and I think 30mm drop will look the goods and give me what I'm after in ride comfort and handling....I just need to convince myself now What would be really good is to go for a drive on some coilovers, but I dont really know anyone in Adelaide with them

I too have been considering which way to go, coilovers or springs.. decisions decisions decisions... most prob springs..

anyone care to recommend what type of drop i should go for? should have some 19z on fairly soon.. not sure how much of a gap between tyres n guard to expect after fitting a set of 19z on a GTI..

Spend the money and you will get the result as they say.

KW in my opinion are the best, alternatively you have Bilsteins and Koni as well. You pay for what you get, you want cheap coilovers you get cheap coilovers.

It comes down to how much you want to spend and what you want from it.

I have KW V2's on my car!
