    No not QBE.
It's less than 12mths old anyway, so I'll be expecting the glass place to cover the seal under warranty. If not I'll be speaking to my insurance company who organised it to begin with and let them sort it out.

just a tip, but if you are ever dissatifed with an insurance company, you can cancel the policy early and if you have pre-paid for say 12 months, then they will refund you the unused portion

Yep, they have to refund (by law I believe), the pro-rata amount, less administrative costs. Unfortunately, if they're playing nasty, those admin costs can be quite high...

Almost bent my car 20 mins ago. I had it cleaned inside and out and the charming buggers left loads of armor all on the pedals.

I was wearing shiny-soled business shoes when I picked the car up and my foot slipped straight off the pedal when I used the brakes for the first time. I stopped the car before running up the back of a rav-4, but it wasn't funny at the time.

On reflection, it serves me right for wearing homo purple-soled shoes. And not washing my own car, lol.

After a long weekend in the country I have a gorgeous sparkly new-looking GTI again. Yaaaay!

I'd be going back and putting a rocket up the backside of the idiots who thought it was OK to put Armourall on the pedals (or any control surface)! I'd ask what the hell they were thinking, but they clearly weren't thinking to start with!

Once you have made a claim on the policy they will not refund anything.
Also they don't refund the stamp duty, and you can't get a credit with your next insurer.
I'm a prick of a customer, I will cancel and go elsewhere for even the slightest of problems. If they cant sort it in a reasonable time I'm gone.

Took my car in for a front and rear alignment with corner weighting, camber, castor and toe settings in preparation for the ATC at the end of the month.

I've got piggy down to 1450KG now from the specified curb weight of 1,546 kg

-3 deg camber looks insane, luckily the car is being shipped to Sydney

Finally a big thanks to Bruce Dalziel at Leda Suspension, another one of the old time motorsport legends who has been around since Noah was a boy and who's experience and reputation are second to none.

It's so nice to finally find a suspension specialist who knows what he is doing, sits down and talks to you about the event you are running what will work best and then tells you what feedback he wants after the event so we can work on getting the best setup for the car. It's like having your own personal race engineer, thanks Bruce.

Next up on Monday it's four brand new sticky Toyo Proxes R888 then a test and tune at Lakeside on the 16th to shake the thing down before putting it on the transporter for Sydney

    Cheers Al

I have had similiar effect on my non-homo styled shoes in the past, and I worked out that they dont actually armour-all the pedals, its just the amount of tyre-shine on the ground that you just walked through and covered your soles with.

Yep that's very rare in the area of alignment/suspension, here's a story at the other end of the spectrum. I remember a classic when I had my KW front Anti-Sway bar fitted, the VW mechanic installing it had to drop the sub-frame during the install and when he bolted it back up it had moved slightly and the car was pulling to the left due to Caster changes from the different position, that's OK an alignment was next thing on the list anyway.

So I go into the local alignment place (I won't name them but they are nation wide, call themselves "experts" and the first 2 letters are JA ) After the grease monkey disguised as a tyre/suspension expert tore my OEM VW wheels up with a lovely corkscrew pattern right thru the clear-coat and paint on each wheel bolt recess with his trusty rattle gun, he proceeded to tell me that my car had been in an accident, and was unable to be aligned. WTF!!!

I called my VW mechanic and over the phone he tried to explain and talk the guys through what needed to be done but in the end it wasn't a Ford/Holden/Toyota so they just couldn't do it. Needless to say once I took it to a place that was the real deal, they aligned it perfectly and the car drove beautifully, no mention of an accident.

Moral to the story: Oils aint Oils and VW's aren't Holdens!!

This is one reason I wanted to take my car to Heasman Steering - they have a reputation for understanding what's going on.

Unfortunately for them, I'll never be lining their pockets with my cash after my recent dealings with them. I'll have a chat to Wholesale Suspension at Blacktown though - they seem to have a decent reputation, and they're closer than Heasman anyway
