Brakes...
Slight change in plan, rang Brakes Direct, they don't have the rear disc rotors in the 'Fremax' any more (some licensing dispute for Australian rights has halted their supply), and the rear DBA's take it back up about $26, wouldn't mind having the same on both front and rear.. not sure. Just for future reference for anyone else out there, he said the Fremax rotors are a great buy normally though, and although cheaper, are slightly better than the basic DBA's, but under their heavy duty4000 series. Wish I could get those Fremax rears now..
Petersham Auto Spares, a local-ish place my mechanic mate uses for many of his project parts for all types of cars, has come back with a quote only about $3 higher than the new Brakes Direct quote at $375 for rotors and pads for fronts and rears. So, I might go with them, good to support a bricks and mortar local place and they were really good to chat to about what he thought of all the different brands, what would suit my car/driving style etc. And around the corner from my mates' place if we need to exchange etc, etc.
I think the disc rotors he was suggesting (for my budget arse), were the "Bremtec" (said he can get me Zimmerman if I want, for a couple of bucks more). And in the pads, I can have the Bremtec which are more metal, so a bit more bite with more dust, or the TRW's which are ceramic with a bit less bite but way less dust.. (I think I got those the right way around). Both pads options are the same price..
Original price list post updated, also I had the HSY supplied brake brand name wrong, they were "ATE", apparently well known euro supplier.
Any suggestions? anyone used those brands?
Looking to buy Monday now I think.. Then focus back on the tyres with what change I have..
