Only thing I don't like about my car.. Not AWD or RWD!
Nice buy on the R32!! Blue is best!!
Dark Grey Mk4 Golf, 1.8T GTI conversion, APR stage 1, stock air intake, FMIC, 3" to 2.5" Exhaust, FK AK Street Coils, Black 18" (Avant Garde M310's ?), tinted tails, ...
cheers everyone and yes blue is defiantly the best in my opinion.
it took me a while to get one but i'm glad I held off and got this one, I don't think ill ever sell it.
my FK Coilovers arrived for the MK4 today.
How have people found these, and how low do they actually go, having them installed on Monday![]()
I dont have them, but from reviews they will go plenty low
I installed my coilovers in my driveway in a day. If you are mechanically minded they are not hard to install. If not $200-$300 at a shop including a alignment.
**** me, I've had an absolute ****house afternoon.
Looks like I'm up for a head gasket :'( :'(
I replaced the coolant hoses, ran some water in the reservoir to flush out the system, and two of the cylinders have water steaming out of them. The spark plug and coil pack have evidence of water on them.
Maybe the night the coolant blew out, the head (and/or head gasket) packed up.
I have done some funky work with custom coolant hoses and t-pieces (see here). The bulk of the changes are the lengths of all the hoses.
I did delete the oddly sized (thinner at one end than the other) hose from the inlet manifold to the t-piece near the heater core and replaced the t-piece with a stainless steel one that has equal sized ends (unlike the different sized headed plastic t-piece). Could that change have completely ****ed up my engine?
Either way, I'm up an expensive **** creek without a paddle.
Anyone have any volkswagen engine builder recommendations and an approximate cost?
I've barely had this car for a few weeks :'( :'( This sucks balls. Now need to tow this car to a pro and there's still so much work to do to get it registerred in Victoria (including clearing the defect)

I think they are awesome man, the ride gets a bit bumpy and annoying sometimes but other than that its all good, much better than i expected at that price.
The front pretty much goes as low as you want, the back doesn't go as low as I wished but still sits pretty nicely when wound all the way down.
Thanks for that mate, looking forward to having them fitted. Should i preset the coils before putting them in so the Suspension shop doesn't have to muck around with it as much for labour costs? If so would you have some measurements or a guess at where your front & rear are wound down too?
