Boser hood extension is now complete, although with the welded on metal + bog to smooth etc my bonnet is a bit heavier and my hood strut doesn't support the weight (I could have had a wonky strut to start with that just managed to push it up.)

Is anyone aware of an OEM strut that can be used from a car with a heavier bonnet (maybe a car with a straight 6 so has a heavier steel bonnet?), that's rated for higher weight. Happy to deal with potential uppercut from bonnet release.

Might be. Gonna see if I can get it regassed with nitrogen at a higher pressure, and see if that does the trick.

Let us know how you go. I have the same problem, it stays open but any little bump or touch it will drop.

Reading this page on Strongarm's website, all we have to do is weigh the bonnet in kg (while hinged), then multiply it by 11 and round up. That should give us the torque that the gas charge needs to exert to lift the bonnet.

Gas struts are measured in newtons, it should be marked on it say for example 300N then just get a pair with an extra 50-100N. Make sure theyre the same length fully extended
