    Ha ha ha
I have the same dilemma. I really shouldn't get this but..... Shopping for a downpipe!!

Think at 249k km my original front brakes are finally done, just touching the wear markers...
Probably didnt help I was chasing/keeping up with a mk3 VR6 in the twisties on sunday.

I really dont know how you have gotten so far on 1 set of brakes.

    Neither... haha.
Be a shock when I increase size all round with some nicer disks and pads.

Same with my clutch though, still going strong (no sign of slipping) except the springs are giving up from so much use.

    Me! Me! Me!

I'm at 2k for serviceable items and the damn car isn't even on the road yet! This is ontop of the 4k the previous owner spent and whoever else before that. >.<

How the heck did you manage to get 249km out of a factory set of brakes?! This is my 3rd car and the best I've ever got out of a set was 60k. Mind you, they all went on a track which didn't do them any favours

    Installed a new head unit

    http://www.sony.com.au/product/mex-n4050bt
This thing has everything you could want except nav, for $160

Now if I could find something for the jetta, adding bluetooth to a vw unit is ridiculously expensive.

They are the same spline right? Did you bother hooking up any of the buttons to your stereo?
What about the airbag? Did you hook it up and what was needed if anything?
Yeah it fit straight on. Stu hooked it up for me. I didn't bother with any of the buttons, too much hassle just to be able to turn down my stereo from the steering wheel when the volume knob is like 5 inches to the left lol

Gave the golf some TLC, good wash, clay bar, went over any scratches with Menzerna FG500, followed by a full PF2500 pass then finally a SF4000 pass. Then sealed with some duragloss primer and polish.
Starting to get ready for DOVW, now just to find me some different wheels

A lot has happened to my little Laura over the last few weeks!

Long awaited package arrived with heaps of goodies!

    Been working furiously to change:
    - Both front driveshafts (Aftermarket from A&F Driveshafts in Hawthorn)
    - Ball joints (Febi)
    - Control arms (Meyle)
    - Sway bar links (MeyleHD)
    - Tie-rod ends (Febi)
    - Wheel bearings (FAG)
    - Rear engine mount
    - Every single coolant hose in the engine bay and even secondary coolant pump! Managed to the wrong pump that had a different connector - no time to spare for getting a refund so I made my own connector for it

Bought myself a swanky new deck after my last one decided to commit suicide. Paid only $250 for a Alphine CDA-137BT usually retails for $600.

Also am working on changing some of my interior to black to have a black & beige mix. Planning to dye my carpet black, change my centre console to black and change my seats plus belts and the trims around the edges of the seat. Currently got 3 out of 4 black leather seats (All Series 2 versions which are better bolstered!) for less than $100 - just on the hunt for a passenger seat.
Carpet will be dyed with some Rit Dye soon and the centre console will probably be worked with a can of VHT plastic dye. Looking forward to how a beidge & black mix interior will look. My interior was completely shot so I'm in the process of freshing it up
