Careful on the haldex doing staggered rolling diameters, there is some play tho.
Yep, that would be me

You'll have to forgive me but I'm clueless with the terms!
What do you mean by staggered rolling diameters? I know what staggered rims are and rolling diameter means but not the two together - Lol :|
Is it that the stretched tyres aren't good for the diff? Big ass 9.5" rims on the back don't allow any wider to fit without smashing the guards.
If that's the case then maybe its the previous tyre & wheel setup may be the reason why its leaking fluid.
While I've got your attention mate, any exhaust shop recommendation? Seb fitted a very droney & loud exhaust that will get me in trouble down here. I often drive past that pricks pettett hellhole of a cop shop.
Cheers man!

im pretty confident thats a genuine oettinger exhaust (makes sense going by some of the other parts on that car) maybe see if its been chopped at some point?
nar the rolling diameter of the tyres. 215/40 has a side wall height of 86mm and the 235/40 has one of 94mm
they need to be within a certain % of each other, I imagine you would get some form of warning light if the system wasnt happy though so might be ok.
215/40 on a 8.5 and 235/40 on a 9.5 isnt regarded as stretched by most tyre brands btw![]()
None of this zhorst looks genuine. All custom fab. Twin hi flow cats into twin 2.5" pipes into a muffler under the back seat and then the pipes from the muffler to outside the car with small hotdogs on them in the space where the factory muffler is meant to be.
I have a mk4 r32 zhorst to compare it too. Looks nothing like the one fitted to my new car. Custom is fine by me but I just hate the ridiculous and annoying drone from 2000-3000rpm. Its the range which I drive most at and hover at down the highway. There's no way to accelerate without making too much noise.
Yeah I know the current setup is far from stretched. Still the falken fk452s I used to have on my last car in 235/40 did explicitly state not to fit to a 8.5" rim lol. The 215/40 on the back was nicely stretched. Love the look but don't think its safe and the po po are less than impressed by it. In future I might try and find a lower profile rear to match the front tyre size profile. Hope the difference doesn't cause any adverse,to the car mechanically or how it drives.
If I wasn't such a stingy bastard, I would've kept the wheel & tyre setup as spare to put on for meets![]()
Cheers for the help!

r32 exhaust will be completely different.
oettinger is a tuning company for VW (if you didnt know..) so itll be a bit over the top compared to the factory R32 one, but I remember it atleast having oettinger stamped tips
just had my first crack at Plasti-Dipping, gave a few coats to my grille, and didn't even have time to fit it before taking it to the spraypainters today, getting almost a door and an arch fixed up a little from an old annonymous car park injury..
The Plasti Dip, before & after (****ty iphone 4 indoors shots):
No time to fit it.. off to the spraypainters.. getting that votex valance painted too, I think I like it without the grille:
Dropped it off at the spraypainters, this mini muscle was there:

Dark Grey Mk4 Golf, 1.8T GTI conversion, APR stage 1, stock air intake, FMIC, 3" to 2.5" Exhaust, FK AK Street Coils, Black 18" (Avant Garde M310's ?), tinted tails, ...
Ahh right. Now I know.
It may still have some oettinger bits in the exhaust system but its definitely missing an exhaust under the boot because the heat shield and space is still there. Small muffler is tucked under the tail shaft section - could even be a resonator.
I suppose there isn't a veedub mechanic who does zhorst work around melb and open on weekends? Otherwise its probably going to be hit n miss with trying to find a setup I like. $$$$s here we come. No one knows these cars >.<
I do love the Audi 5x112 wheels. Anyone ever done a mk5 5x112 hub conversion ? Or is adaptors the only way?

my mate does some exhaust building on dubs, ill send him this and see if hes keen.
dont think you can swap to mk5 hubs... plus mk5 wheel offsets wouldnt be suited to a mk4, so you would have to run spacers, might as well then run adapters for the same result
I went to Wakefield today with the mk4, fastest lap i could do was a 1:20:07. Who else has been to Wakefield and what were your times?
Ambient temp was 30deg from lunch onwards, i could only cringe to think how hot the stock intercooler was during sessions.
Bang for buck the gt86/brz in the hands of a skilled driver was consistently getting 1:11-1:12. They were stock with hankook rs3 tyres? Was amazing.
Looking forward to going back and cracking the 1:20..
