Hey Jmac (or anyone else that can help)...

I followed the Ross tech instructions here: Immobilizer II ECU Swapping - Ross-Tech Wiki , which all seems fine, until I get to the bit that says "SAVE", and the vagcom program says it needs an activation code!! Help! Stuck in a mates driveway & can't move the car... Starts, but shuts off after a few seconds. Immo light flashing.

Is that Ross-Tech method I linked to what you described as 'erase learnt values'?

Took one side of the bumper off today drove straight into a spot at the motor show today without realising how high the stop was at the front. All this and my cars still standard height used some JB weld to fix the holes which mount the bumper and leaving it to dry overnight. Sure hope it works

Last week I tried to change the passenger door lock module with one I bought from Tek199. I found the new lock was for a car with keyless entry, so I merged the 2 together and all seemed ok.
Then I closed the door and it would not open again ARGH !?!?

So today I had another go, took about 30 handle pulls to get the door open. I pulled everything out and rebuilt the lock. Put it back in and it worked. I took my daughter to swimming and came back to finish it a few hours later. The electrics are playing up again, but at least I can open the door.
So 5 hours last weekend & 3 this weekend and I have a door lock with the same problems it had before I started. Sometimes it unlocks all the doors, sometimes the electric does not kick and it goes to manual for just that door. If I pull on the loom from the module it works again for a minute or 2. Now I'm not sure the fault is in the module, the connector, or the loom somewhere in the door.

Anyway I've had a gut full, and regrettably, next week once the weird sound from the front end is sorted, I'll probably be putting it up for sale.

If it's intermittent, it's probably the solder joints on the inside of the lock. It was with 3 of my doors! The car now locks & unlocks all doors perfectly now, red light blinking too, showing 'compliance' from all doors & deadlocked. Look back at my post the other week ...

    LED interior lights - shiney!

Back latch not unlocking properly and no boot light - looks like I have the dreaded rear washer leak - another job to add to the list of things to make and do....

Tried to install my coilovers today, but unfortunately I was only able to get the rear installed as I didn't have the tools for the front. I've already got an appointment with the suspension shop for a wheel alignment though, so I'll just get them to finish the job off. Here's how it looks at the moment:
