I want to lick your matte black Bora.

Well it seems my passenger side lower grill did a runner on me. I treated him well but I guess he hated me.
Also finally stopped being lazy and got my wheels aligned (after wearing down my tyres on the outside!). I meant to do them right after I got my suspension in and wheels on, but it was such a long drawn out process that I forgot!

looks very nice dude. Is there much bits of dust n dirt in the paint?
And did you strip the car down or just mask everything up?

Am putting the car on stock LCAs and stock R32 front and rear shocks and springs, adding comfort on my long trips and taking away (i imagine) my ride height and compliance obviously.

Remember I still have the skirts and rear bar to shoot and fit.

yeah, great pick up. I didn't have a great camera to shoot the shots, but as the coats were on and i stirred up so much dust then it is all over the car. I am convinced you can get a beautiful finish in a booth, but I wanted to literally shoot on a driveway as proof the Plastidip is very forgiving.

What i've ended up with is a textured paint thats quite rough but i think it adds to the matte finish and helps to really break up my poor paint shoot. Sure, there are bits of fluff, dirt, and small bugs in the paint but its a genuine home job and I gave it a crack. tbh i am stoked with the result and maybe i could lay some ground sheets next time to keep the dirt at bay.

Always had an interest in matte black, but I'm not sure about the whole car and wheels hahaha. Either way great work, certainly pull it off, just lower it now!!

Im used to seeing backyard matte black jobs on Nissan Gazelle's and KE70 Corolla's, so either way I'm very impressed with the job you did compared to what I have seen. If you do use a booth and do the right painting steps you will of course have less **** in the paint.
I paint every day. some jobs have **** in them, some don't. I follow the right steps every day to reduce ****, but it can still happen.
I read that when BMW first painted the matte black M3's. The first car they painted was 16 times, only because you literally cannot polish **** out of paint on a matte colour. It has to be redone.

As you said with the ground sheets, if you don't do that. Hose the ground off with a lot of water, this will reduce the contaminants in the paint quite considerably. Also if you do it in a driveway put multiple tarps up on the walls but leave one side completely open. Get a pedestal fan and put it in the corner of the covered side so the the air flow goes from the covered side to the opening side. Its the ultimate home made booth.

Central locking on my golf has gone When locking from drivers side it only locks the drivers door. Think I'll leave it, reading up it seems like a real hassle to fix mkiv door locks and the passenger sides central locking works fine.
