It does feel good to be a bit different indeed.
Also Dan - ride is fantastic. No complaints.
When the rotors need doing I'll probably get some 312mm front and 280mm on the back. Porsche brakes would be nice but I'm guessing they're quite expensive. I'll look into sometime though!

Yesterday I hammered the heck out of my guards in the rear and now there's no more scrubbing on the tyres! Honestly I was frustrated that my tyres were getting torn up so it looks a bit ghetto where the arch meets the rear bar but at least I'm saving my tyres now.

When I get back from my overseas trip I'll spend some money on getting the guards cleaned up..

I can finally drive hard again and take advantage of the 4mo yo!

Cool New Tyres - Absolute bargain

I had 4 new tyres fitted today. I bought from St Geroge Tyres and had then shipped to Brisbane for fitting.
I had so many people tell me that at the price they would be
    • Counterfeit
    • Not to Australian standards
    • Old Stock i.e. many years old
    • Wrong load rating
    • Will take weeks for delivery
    • Too good to be true

I ordered on Wednesday arvo, tyres arrived Friday morning.

Well I can say that they are exactly what I wanted, the tyre shop where I had them fitted was impressed with the price.

    Kumho KU31 224/40 R18 92Y Manufactured Week 11 2011
    Tyres 4 x $139
    Shipping to Brisbane $75
    Fitting 4 x $28
    Disposal 4 x $5
    Total $763

The best price I found locally was $280 per tyre fitted or $1120.
So anyone looking for new tyres and would like to save $90 a corner should consider St George.

I always buy my tyres from St George, easily best priced in Australia

I bought the Kumho Ku31 2010, good tyres but they wear really quick. I went for the falkens this year

thats pretty crap. considering the KU36s get around that and are a much better (softer and semi slick) tyre, maybe you had suspension issues causing wear?

I bought Kumho again as they have lasted more than twice the distance of Michelin PP2 I had before.
Fitted November 2009 approx 118000 replaced today 162800 so about 45,000km in 2 and a bit years.

I find that dry weather they grip as well as the Michelin and in the wet it's only about 10% less, but you have to be trying to get unstuck.
My Mrs drives the car mostly now that could be a big factor too.

Edit: The Michelins wore out at about 18,000km, so Kumho is like 2.5 times better mileage.
