Haha you and me had the same plan. I just used a flat head screwdriver that has a hex part on the back and that seemed to work. Be prepared on the passanger side though as its a major PITA! Only managed to do that side yesterday, allthough that does include a refresh on most parts.

Watching my mates brother and his mates weld in a notch install a four link, drop spindles, tub the front/rear, lift the engine and install air fbss in his rodeo on a long weeked about 7 yrs ago to get engineered later in the week, seemed about 100% easier then installing coilovers on the bora hahaha.

Could you talk me through how you did the passenger side? Did you compress the spring and do it that way or something else? Any help might make mine a little smoother hahaha

Ha ha i know what you mean, I did it on my aunts Hyundai a while back. 2 front strut replacements took only 3hrs and that was only cause i had to hand wind the coil compressors. Got basically it all done today, Drivers side which was worse that the passengers and 1.5 of the rears. Manage to completely screw a 10.9 bolt on the rear so that's all that's really left and need to align one of the front wheels and she should be good to go, All refreshed and strong

Ah yeah we undid the lower strut bolt, spaced it, removed the sway bar link, disconnected the brake and abs sensor lines from the strut. Then using a trolley jack lifted the control arm as far as it can go and attach the spring compressors. You will probably still have to compress them a bit more as well. Then we just wailed on the strut with a hammer and a pry bar to coax it out of its hole (lower the jack first but not too low) and once its mostly out undo the top and you should be able to get it free after much swearing.

I used this guide helps a bit
Noah's MkIV VW H&R Coilover Installation HOWTO

I'm not sure how much what i said helps but please feel free to ask any question as i know how much of a pain it can be.

Also will update a bit later on my page.

Good news, Bad news day today.

    First the bad.

Put it up on the ramps so I could find the oil leak that has come back (with a vengeance) in the last 24 hours. Even a stock Bora is too low for these ramps so I had to pull the bumper off.

    ....and the good.

Test fitting of my new toy. OEM FTW.

Nice Navi, where did you get it ? Spill the details.

Today I fixed the radiator fans so they go on low speed.
Fixed the door lock on passenger side, it had a mind of its own.

Might get new wheels coz the wifey doesn't like the wideness on our daily anymore.

Man that Bora has some BOOTY!!!! Phat ass rear end looks awesome!!!!

NYE took the missus out for a lush dinner, sick of NYE idiots, so i avoid the parties. Driving home some barrel-scraper decides to throw a beer over my car as im heading down a dusty side road. Happy new years to you to.. ******.

so 2012 resolution was to give the car a wash.

and id say another resolution would be to fit the front coilovers, haha.

sucks about the beer but at least it wasn't a massive rock right??

on another slightly mk4 related note i worked out that a Ferrari 458 has 5 times as much power as my 2.0 bora and a Ferrari FF has almost 6 times as much... and when your in those cars you can certainly feel the difference... i want a ferrari...
