Is that a car your pulling If so how do you find it takes the weight because surely that must be either over 1400kg or over the max ball mass! Most i've pulled was prolly right on 1400 kg and i was super carefull to make sure i didnt exceed the max ball rating. I find it interesting tho that they're rated to tow 1600kg in the EU but not here... wonder why

ESP, EDL, ABS, I had 'em all going off at once!

For the record, a 4motion v6 Bora cannot pull a 1400kg tandem trailer uphill on muddy grass. I know, I tired

Yep, ~1400kg of car and trailer. I set ball weight to about 80kg by carefully positioning the car on the trailer.

Tows really well, I've got about 1000km on this rig now in all conditions with out an issue.

Do a bit of research, the whole 10% of GVM on the ball thing isn't actually law, it's just conventional Australian wisdom, most likely from the caravanning crowd. It's difficult to even find any engineering references that specify it.

Ball weights in Europe are typically much lower, hence the rating of the Bora in Europe.

I've carefully measured the trailer nose weight several times as I try different loading techniques, the correct ball weight results in the rear of the Bora dropping by 1cm at the hitch.

I'm right on the maximum ball weight and towing capacity of the Bora but it tows beautifully, car and trailer sit level, no signs of swaying or bobbing or any other carrying on.

I've done a bit of reading in the back ground in the past and found this quote here

Among all these very precise guidelines is one major variable: tow ball load. There’s a convention that sets tow ball load at around 10 percent of the trailer ATM, but this rule of thumb developed in the days of small trailers. It’s still the practice by many North American and Australian trailer makers to specify 10 percent loadings for heavy trailers, but in Europe, where there has been considerable testing done, the tow ball load range is specified in EC E94/20 regulation as a minimum figure of 25kg and a maximum of 100kg, for trailers up to 2000kg ATM. Even above that figure the heaviest gazetted coupling for cars, light commercials and 4x4s is rated at 120kg tow ball load.

Not being one to blindly accept stuff I read on the internet I looked up the referenced regulation Directive 94/20/EC but I can't extract the same opinion on first glance, there's a few calculations to be done. I'll figure it out one day. It's an interesting read though, gives you a new appreciation of the engineering involved.

    yeah i had a simillar issue when i ordered a forge T.I.P
Was in stock when i ordered, and then they send me an email about a week or so later saying that they don't have stock and are trying to source a new lot.
I asked them could they give me the APR one instead, and just not charge me for the $10 difference, and they agreed.
Obviously their live inventory system isn't the best

And the spacers on my order i posted in that last post said ETA 24th June, now that that date has passed, it's pushed back to 2nd July
which doesn't help my case because i want all this stuff on my car before the 16th, and no doubt the order is gonna get caught up in customs for a bit too... hopefully then send the spacers seperately

Been a while since I've been on here, but a little has happened. FInally painted the bonnet and front bar. No more dirty scratch crap look.

Gave it a polish and it looks/looked brand spanking new before the rain came through.

Not much doing with the car these days.. just driving..

Also orderd KYB AGX shocks on ebay yesterday
Some nice goodies there, can you let us know what the downpipes fitment is like? Apparently the 2.5" will fit but the 3" wont, but nobodys really confirmed it.
