Installed new Battery.
Old one was dated MAY 06.
Wasn't dead just yet but didn't want to start car a couple of times lately after running radio with engine off. Didn't seem to be holding up as well it should.
Old Battery RACV 500CCA
New Battery Century DIN53LMF $200 from SuperCheap.
Car starts more energetically now :)
Checked codes before and after, it's throwing a lambda sensor heater circuit code at the moment. Must look into that one day......

good to see it still beads. not impressed by weather change again in sydney argh!
Yep, raining on and off. Will be interesting to see if my paint is still beading the water when I get back to the car late this afternoon.
Picked up a small Kincrome socket set today as a tookit to work on the car. It proved useful pretty quickly. :)
Also picked up a 5L bottle of Castrol Edge Sport 5W30 oil.

That was the idea. I like the peripheral drive system that Kincrome use for their sockets. I figured I'd just start with a small set, and see where I go from there.
Apparently I need a 7mm allen/hex driver to replace the sliders in my brake calipers - that'll be the next purchase.
For what it's worth, although I got my tools at Bunnings because I had a $50 gift card to spend, Transquip (www.transquip.com.au) seem to have great prices on tools if you're not in a hurry for them.
http://www.transquip.com.au/productlist.aspx?ID=359 for instance for spanners... :)
Today I made a claim on my car insurance
Took the wife and kids on a shopping trip to Harbourtown (the qlders will know where I mean)...as you do.
Called into Maccas at Helensvale on the way home for lunch and was hit from behind while stopped at the traffic lights getting back onto the M1.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
"Apparently" the guy in the Kia Pregio (van) "didn't see the red light".
Luckily he wasn't going very fast so the damage isn't too much...but still, makes me angry when I'm stopped at the lights and get hit from behind and all he can say is "ah well, s&*t happens"
Off to the panel beaters in the morning.....
