anyway my mechanic reckons it's the dogbone inserts. he actually warned me about cabin noise before putting em in. though i didn't have a proper chat with him when i picked the car up, was in a rush for work. will chat more with him in a couple days. he may even read this post :-P
Though he doesn't seem to have time to sleep so don't think he spends much too much time on here anymore

TBH i found the BFI yellow dogbone inserts a bit rough for the street. I had heat shields vibrating a bit and it got irritating... I replaced the smaller of the two inserts with the stock one, and it provided a good balance. I imagine the stock one will probably wear quicker now, but hopefully they are cheaper to replace.

interesting. I even get the vibrations through my chair, its not just cabin noise. Vibration is worse when letting clutch go gradually at around 1500rpm. But even at 3000 and over ir still does it, and in 5th on the freeway there's an annoying rattle behind the dash when i put the foot down. Althogh regarding there being no metal on metal sound, at idle i got out of the car and could hear a metal rattle near the gearbox, so will get it looked at.

Car has seen very little driving time for the last few months because of it running like poo.... but i actually feel like im getting to the end of it with just about all the issues relating back to air leaks of sorts.

Guys that were dyno tuning the car ended up not having the correct socket adapter for my ECU, it's en-route to NZ as we speak so will wait 4 the call

Having a bit of the an issue at the moment with the car running a bit rough when accelerating/ decelerating it hits some flat spots b4 power comes back, also when just idling sometimes the revs drops below 800 and causes the car to stall, restarting it hesitates. weird thing is that boost levels hasn't dropped in anyway and symtoms is similiar 2 when your MAF is dying yet MAF was recently replaced. had a quick look under the hood didn't see anything loose/ unplugged or any leaks on the vac lines. so will hook her up 2 vagcom and do more investigating this weekend.

Not to bad considering there could have been structural damage etc i guess..

Bit of paint off, lots and lots of scratches and odd deep rub marks, didnt spot any dints but it was covered in dirt from the rain and leaves so they may show up.

Still something i don't want to be forking out for.

Funny thing was we think we heard it hit my car... someone in the office joked that it was a tree falling on my car. Think she felt a bit bad when she came out to see me scratching my head.

quoting myself here... we put the stock dogbone back in and it's all nice and quiet now. it does have the slight rattle at idle when the air-con is on, but that seems to be a common thing with this flywheel, and it doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as the cabin vibrations i was getting. back to comfortable street car. i'm very happy cos i was really worried it was the clutch/flywheel! So finnaly i can enjoy my nice new clutch. and i'm not sure if it's that i can't feel the vibrations anymore, or if it's the N75J valve that was put in at the same time as the dogbone was returned to stock, but the car seems to be so much nicer taking off slowly from a standstill... whereas i swear i needed to rev it more before... dunno maybe in my head.

I drove my Bora for the first time in a week. After driving a Corolla sedan (hire car) around 1,000km around Tasmania for the last seven days, it's great to get back into a car with some feel to the steering and some stability in its ride (the Corolla really copped a buffeting from passing trucks).
    Nothing to see here...
