    Lowering of 2004 V5 Bora

    I am currently considering lowering my v5, just wondered how easily this can be achieved.
    can this be done without adversely affecting tire wear etc?
    I am looking at steel sump guards at the moment, as i think this is a crucial step for the bora.

    as far as lowering, im not looking for anything too drastic, maybe look at puttin 18" on.

    Easiest way to go is using lowered springs say 20-30mm
    Then If you wanted more control over the suspension I'd recommend coilovers. Many different types to choose from its all up to you how much your willing to spend. Check out ebay.

    Im sure coilies would be the go, how does this affect camber etc?

    Doesnt.

    Rear of the car stays basically the same. Even if you slam it the camber stays at factory 1-1.5deg, toe-in increases ever so slightly due to the rolling beam, but its not enough to cause excessive wear.
    Front just needs an alignment after everything as settled in, again camber doesn't move much.

    There are other things to take into account through...
    Be sure to get new strut top bearings and bushes.
    depending on ks on the car, new control arm bushes might be worth doing at the same time pre alignment.
    Another thing to think about is the FWD sway bar problem. if you do some research you will see mk4s with a 30-50mm + drop will have issues with the sway bar rubbing on the drive-shafts. There are a number of options to sort this (longer/shorter end links, after market sway bar, or, removing the bar completely), its up how much you lower the car and personal preference to which path you go down

    Does anyone run these 'blueline' coilovers on here? Interested to know what they are like.

    Is it worth sorting the read toe in? What's the cheapest way of achieving this?

    most likely wont have issues with the sway then.
    just get a standard alignment on the front after the springs have settled in.
    there is enough moment in the ball joint and tie rods to fix any changes

    Keep in mind that your standard suspension will have dropped over time, so what you think of as a 25mm drop might not lower the car as much as you expect.
