hey dave mine is turbo back 2.5inch all the way through with twin 2.5inch tips.
I'm looking at possibly getting a full exhaust for my A3, would like 2.5" through with Twin 3" straight metal tips (No rounded metal edges).
Anyone have a similar setup and what does it sound like? - I don't mind abit of noise but I dont want it droning !
Anyone got a butterly valve setup on their aftermarket exhaust to really get it going when they want some noise / bypassing resonator etc.?

2000 GTI.
3" Turbo back with dump pipe... Can't see the exhaust tip, and as it's pointing down at the end, probably kills a lot of noise as well.

I have a 3 inch turbo back system on my A3. Sounds great but quiet on the outside. On the move it's pretty loud inside. Pretty big silencers but not enough really. My wife drives it more than me and she doesn't complain. I think a 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 would be a better diameter.
I went for 3 because of the upgrades I plan on doing down the line. For a road system with std turbo I'd say 2 1/2 or 3/4 would be fine.

ive got a 3" dp, to stock diameter with remus exhaust as well.. sounds like a rocket (very quiet inside, VERY quiet!)
What’s behind you doesn’t matter..
I've got a full exhuast 2.5" turbo back into a single pipe that points down and is hidden behind the rear bumper so the car looks stock but sounds hot! Incredible performance increase for the money.
speaking of exhaust - I had a chance to sit in the backseat while my brother drove last night, and it sounds much better from there, if anything close to a Polo GTI!
Mine is a 2.5" downpipe to the stock exhaust. My cat rattles so people think I have a TDI
Well i'll be getting an exhaust sooner than I thought now - long story.
I'm thinking about 2.75" to twin 3" tips now - Ryan i'll have to come have another listen to your car before I do anything hehe.
