Going to pick up some red coolant tomorrow , is there a certain way i should be flushing the system or just hook the hose and and pump water throw till i don't see any green stuff coming out ????

might even flush it and run water for a day or so just to be safe that its all out ???

Just thought I'd put it out there...
I've run green coolant in mine since the day I got it (think it was in there already too...), never had an issue.
    That's 7.5years and 180,000km at least.
Its not the end of the world if you do

Can't remember the actual branding but the green coolant I used specifically stated it was suitable for VW and Audi.... Not suggesting every green coolant variant is suitable or unsuitable .... As I'm sure not every pink variation meets vag standards either .....
Read the label as to the standards and or manufacturers specifications for the particular product your thinking of using ....

It used to be that coolants were formulated for cast and for alloy. The chemical composition of each was different and still probably is. I'd stick with manufacturer's recommendations.

If you don't want to pay for the exhorbitant VW pricing for genuine Pink coolant then buy a bottle of Penrite pink 6+ year coolant. It's a bit cheaper and is approved for us by VW themselves. Be sure to check the back of the bottle to look for the G12+ standard.

But as above, get the green coolant out. It's not made for VWs. Pink coolant apparently has addititives in it that the engine and pump need.
