hey all just got a quick question about coolant , my 2001 mk4 golf 1.6 AKL has green coolant in it and i don't think it came factory with green coolant in it ? correct me if im wrong ?
now if i was to change it to the red/pink coolant that i think its meant to have in what problems if any would i run in to ?
i would have to flush the cooling system rather well to insure that all the green coolant is out of the system/ heater core before adding the new pink / red coolant yes ?
any info or input to this would be great as im going to do my thermostat soon and want to buy the correct coolant before i start

why pink / red is it more of a anti-corrosion thing , there a blue coolant now also what the go with that ?
just had a look in my vw manual that was in the car and it says G12 red coolant only , is it just casue its a anti corrosion thing ? why would green coolant have been put in there instead of red/pink then ? , could this have cause any problems ?
Do a full back-flush, and run the G12+ pink in it.

That's what I was thinking , I'll have to flush it rather well but won't i , I have herd if you leave the green in and add the red it turns to goo and clogs everything is that correct ?
As stated already, flush out the green and replace with the correct g12+
Remove the line from the oil cooler to get the last of it out

Yep will do , forgot about the oil cooler thanks for reminding me
Flush REALLY well like you say - you don't want to mix coolant types.
